The Opportunity Future focused and always one step ahead. Lead a team of MR F&C Engineering - Operational Power underwriters to achieve business unit goals. Be accountable for a book of business by managing the underwriting of profitable business, achieving the goals as set forth in the business plan and managing, developing and retaining talent. Responsibilities include: * Manage the underwriting process to ensure efficiency as well as portfolio underwriting & pricing integrity. * Uphold underwriting practices consistent with all MR Group and F&C delegated authority and local guidelines, Mandate, Best Practices and underwriting strategies. * Steer Portfolio in consideration of LoB strategy and plan and demonstrate an agility to adjust according to external market forces. * Thought leadership in business segment through representation at market and client events. * Negotiate and conclude the offers, terms of contract with Brokers/Clients and, when necessary and feasible, submit counter proposals. * Develop financial and non-financial goals and objectives for individual underwriters consistent with Group and F&C strategic objectives * Develop and mentor underwriters and support the development of talent across the MR Group. * Embrace and lead the Continuous Conversations model of performance and development enablement * Lead talent acquisition efforts, employing diversity and inclusion to build diverse, high performing teams Qualifications include: * 10+ years of experience in (re)insurance, broker community and/ or corporate risk market. 7+ years of underwriting experience preferred. * Bachelor's Degree preferred advanced degree a plus. Professional designations desirable. * Demonstrate executive presence, instilling trust at all levels internally, and with client and broker partnerships * Demonstrated superior negotiation skills, facilitating and managing the complexities and challenges associated with sourcing business. * Excellent written and oral communication skills. Able to adjust communication style to audience at all levels internally or externally. Outstanding presentation skills, able to speak at professional seminars, panels or workshops. * Demonstrate advanced proficiency in the use of pricing models and other risk evaluation models. Strategic decision making based on data interpretation beyond models. * Leverage staff data and analytics expertise to drive profitable underwriting results. * Manage the peer review process. Ensure plans are developed and executed as a result of the review process. Involved where necessary for more complex reviews. * Ability to travel nationally and internationally (Up to 30%). The Company is open to considering candidates in numerous locations, including New York City (NYC), Houston (TX), Chicago (IL), and San Francisco (CA). The salary range posted below reflects market variations across various locations. This role is designated for either NYC, Houston, Chicago, or San Francisco and reflects multiple geographies. The offer will be adjusted per geography. The base salary range anticipated for this position is $222,400 - $370,600, plus opportunity for company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay. In addition, the company makes available a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, 401k match, retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO). The salary estimate is adjusted to reflect the varying market conditions across different locations, with the with the higher end being more aligned with the NYC and San Francisco job markets. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role.
