Electrical Feature and Component Testing Manager
Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is looking for a Manager for the Electrical Feature and Component Testing Team of the Electronic Development Department (EDD), which is one of the engineering departments in the Electronic Systems Development (ESD) Division The Team: EDD's scope pertains to the design and validation of body electronic features and components concerning Hyundai/Kia/Genesis vehicles The Position: The Electrical Feature and Component Testing Manager would oversee the successful, reliable, and repeatable performance of the electrical systems and respective features found in Hyundai/Kia/Genesis vehicles. Also, the Manager would be responsible for performing the technical validation of the components/features, as they would focus on functional performance and create validation test plans/reports. Thus, the individual would be required to:
- Collaborate with the appropriate stakeholders (i.e., HMG R&D, suppliers, quality departments, etc.)
- Be knowledgeable about system components and architecture
- Provide recommendations regarding enhancing user experience (UX)
- Have troubleshooting/root cause analysis skills
- Possess proficient oral and written communication skills to ensure effective and efficient communication with management and subject matter experts (SMEs)
What You Will Do:
- Establish and build the section's team, resources, capabilities, and project portfolio concerning electrical features and components
- Understand, follow,and continually communicate with one's direct reports the department's business model, strategic direction, purpose, and mission
- Set section-related goals and objectives that alignwith the department's direction. Then, drive execution, engagement, and results to accomplish them.
- Develop and manage the section's plan, strategy, and budget allocation/usage
- Manage direct reports, including task assignments, professional development, and employee evaluation
- Work with the Senior Manager to participate in the department's resource planning, goal setting, and technology roadmap creation
- Foster inner-team collaboration and knowledge sharing through transparent communication
- Establish and adhere to validation test processes & documentation
- Convey clear and concise verbal and written communication to all areas of the enterprise
- Conduct end-to-end validation on features based on Test Development Plans (TDPs)
- Create and present reports and presentations for management to review
- Report content would varydepending onthe scope of work; however, regular reports would include the statuses of projectsfor successful delivery, technical advancements, new trends, and competitive benchmark studies
- Produce and deliver executive-level presentations on key project milestones and achievements
- Support design reviews and workshops to define component requirements and specifications, and convert the requirements and specifications into a TDP and execution plan
- Evaluate field/customer concerns after a given system launches and drive resolution to maintain or improve customer and industry expectations
- Participate in or conduct competitive vehicle benchmarking activities, such as planning and schedulingevaluations with suppliers, distributors, and HMG R&D (as appropriate), preparingvehicles, leadingevaluations, and reporting findings
- Improve revenue streams and the overall business model by performing and participating in cost-saving initiatives and activities
- Providedeep dive technical support for body electronics-related concerns for both pre-production and post-production issues
- Remain current with new technology and competitive products to drive innovation
- Develop/maintain positiverelationships with tech experts from the R&D Center and counterpart teams
- Travel up to 15% of the time, both domestically and internationally
What You Will Bring to the Role:
- Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
- 10+ years of automotive engineering experience
- 2+ years of management or project management experience
- Familiarity with ECU HW/SW design, vehicle electronic architectures and systems, network Bus communication, DV/PV testing, supplier management, and vehicle development process(es)
- Working knowledge of AUTOSAR specifications & CAN communication protocol
- Experience in performing root cause analysis and creating corrective action plans for electrical systems and components
- Ability to understand and create test plans and schedules
- Flexibility withprogram and process changes, as Hyundai/Kia/Genesis is willing to make late changes to satisfy customer needs
- Good written, oral communication, and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft programs, such as Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word
- Excellent project management skills
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in electrical engineering
- Management or project management experience concerning electrical vehicle systems and/or features
