Select how often (in days) to receive an alert: JOIN OUR TALENT NETWORK Heat and Vent Mechanic CWP Apply now Date: May 20, 2025 Location: Lexington, MA, US Company: MIT Lincoln Laboratory Job Description Hours: Wednesday - Saturday 2pm - Midnight This position will operate and maintain a semi-automated Chilled Water Plant utilizing York Turbomaster Chillers and associated pumps, valves, cooling towers, strainers, water treatment system, control systems and low-pressure steam systems. Will maintain records and logs of plant operations. Will install and maintain air conditioning and refrigeration systems and associated compressors, heat transfer coils, bearings, belts, pneumatic and DDC control systems. Within the lab, will operate and maintain compressed air systems, oil burners, low-pressure steam heating systems, and hot water heating systems. Will respond to emergency HVAC problems. Required to climb and maneuver on ladders, staging and work platforms and/or tight spaces, lift heavy objects up to 50#. Ability to climb over and around equipment in construction areas is a must. Position may require candidate to be on his/her feet upwards to 70-80% of the time. Requirements: Massachusetts Refrigeration Technicians license is required. Journeyman Pipefitter's license desirable. Experience with Building Automation Systems desirable. Minimum of five years' experience in the refrigeration field with solid experience in central chilled water plant operations and pneumatic/DDC control systems. Minimum supervision required. Must obtain within 15 months a 3A Hoisting Licenses required to operate overhead cranes. Position may require candidate to be on his/her feet upwards to 70-80% of the time. Must be able to work all shifts as required by MIT Lincoln Laboratory. Required to work during the site wide semi-annual steam plant facilities maintenance shutdowns.
