Machine Operator

Uses advanced processes to set up, adjust, and operate various machine tools to form and/or machine aerospace quality detail hardware.

Functions and Responsibilities

  • Perform setups and complex operations using engine lathes, milling machines, punch press, forming press, shear, press brake, expander and/or other machinery on production hardware.
  • Detect faulty processes and provide input for their resolution.
  • Interpret and follow written instructions, sketches, drawings and documents.
  • Use precision instruments to check tolerances and quality of parts.
  • Perform all work in accordance with established standards and safety procedures.
  • Responsible for ensuring proper documentation is entered on manufacturing planning (including correct quantities) and paperless timecard system.
  • Able to develop some new jobs.
  • May train others on basic operations on a variety of skills and machines.
  • Assist in improving processes and tools.
  • Serve as a resource for resolving complex challenges.

Skills and Required Experience

  • Fully proficient in interpreting manufacturing planning, sketches, blueprints, and specifications, including views, symbols, and revision control, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Knows when to stop and ask for clarification.
  • Few limitations but knows what they are and stops and finds appropriate interpretation when necessary.
  • Understands proper setup and use of tooling associated with machines.
  • Requires familiarity with machine tools, precision instruments and good manual dexterity.
  • Required to perform shop mathematics associated with machine operations.
  • Demonstrates expertise in various machine types and work which may involve multiple machine processes.

Working Conditions

  • Demonstrate proper and safe operation of equipment, and personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, safety glasses/full face shield, hearing protection, heat reflective body garments and gloves as required.

Physical Requirements

  • The machine operator performs physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and frequent movement of the whole body, such as climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, balancing and handling of material.

  • Our 2nd shift receives a shift differential of $2.00 per hour. Our weekend shifts receive $6.00 shift differential pay while working 36 hours per week.

Please note that the salary range information is only applicable for California, Massachusetts, New York, Washington. Compensation is based on a variety of factors, candidate experience, qualifications, location as well as market and business considerations.

Competitive Compensation

  • Pay Range: $23.00-$30.50/hourly
