This position is for Parker Hannifin's Composite Sealing Systems Division, located in San Diego (Otay Mesa), California. The standard work hours are from Monday through Friday from 2:00 am to 11:00 pm. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Manufacturing Supervisor oversees all daily production operations for the second shift, ensuring that productivity, safety, and quality standards are consistently met while actively engaging in hands-on support. They are responsible for planning, scheduling, and monitoring the movement of material through the production cycle to meet customer demand. The Supervisor must be comfortable overseeing a diverse group of team members with limited additional leadership support. They facilitate clear and effective communication, resolve conflicts, and motivate team members through coaching, training, and constructive feedback to promote skill development and career growth. Additionally, they analyze operational data to make informed decisions, monitor key performance indicators, and utilize tracking systems to meet daily production goals. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Supervise daily operations within the department to ensure productivity and efficiency and quality of products.
- Maintain responsibility for employee safety and support safety related initiatives.
- Utilize direct and/or indirect labor to maintain on-time delivery of items within the department on a daily basis.
- Manage schedules, records, and reports related to the tracking of materials through the production cycle and the availability of production resources.
- Identify employee development needs and monitor compliance with Parker policies and procedures.
- Train and develop employees to maintain a flexible workforce capable of supporting fluctuations in business demand.
- Conduct performance reviews for hourly employees as required.
- Assist in monitoring inventory levels, generating tracking reports, and performing necessary data entry.
- Utilize visual management systems to communicate plans, progress, and continuous improvement activities.
- Oversee administrative leadership tasks, including conducting performance reviews, managing disciplinary actions, and approving timecards.
- Escalate concerns, production issues, and other necessary items to appropriate leadership or departments to ensure timely resolution and maintain operational flow.
- Support and implement training programs for team members to enhance their skills and competencies, ensuring they are equipped to meet current and future challenges.
- Lead High-Performance Teams (HPT) to drive continuous improvement initiatives and enhance operational processes through BARNS and weekly HPT meetings.
- Follows established safety and environmental policies, procedures, and methods applicable to the work area.
- Performs other duties as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Bachelor's degree (BA) in Business Administration, Engineering, Materials or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience which has provided both theoretical and practical knowledge in the field.
Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- 2+ years of experience in a supervisory role, preferred
- SAP experience, preferred
- MSS mainframe experience, preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills with the ability to understand electronic processing
- Ability to adapt to changing tasks and work assignments in a fast-paced setting.
- Ability to analyze situations critically and make informed decisions.
- Ability to work, train, and develop verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to be innovative and embrace Lean enterprises principles and practices.
Skills:
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for effective interface with all internal and external contacts in English.
- Bilingual in Spanish or Tagalog, preferred.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds regularly.
- Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time.
- Ability to use hands and fingers for detailed work over extended periods of time.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks with a focus on accuracy and efficiency for extended periods of time.
- Ability to safely work on the manufacturing floor and operate or be around heavy machinery.
- Ability to wear required PPE throughout the entirety of the shift.

Compensation is based on a variety of factors, candidate experience, qualifications, location as well as market and business considerations. Pay Range: $77,259 annually - $128,908 annually.
