SUMMARY

This position serves the top accounting management position for the Roofing & Stone business unit and regularly interacts with the business and operations heads. This position holds responsibility for: (1) Roofing & Stone accurate accounting in accordance with US GAAP, (2) compliance with internal operational controls and SOX controls, (3) reporting monthly results to Executive Management, (4) oversees the monthly forecast process (5) oversees the annual budget process and (6) other administrative duties normal for a high-level accounting position. This position oversees the monthly close and reviews those high-risk areas to ensure no material errors, including all transactions related to sales revenues, customer rebates, costs, fixed assets, trade payables and inventory management. This position must ensure that Westlake Accounting Policies and the Delegation of Authority are complied with, as well as supporting the Roofing & Stone business and operations heads in understanding/analyzing financial results.

ACCOUNTING DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Oversees the Roofing & Stone accounting during monthly close to ensure accurate closing in accordance with GAAP and to make decisions on accounting issues that come up during the close.
  • Drive the support for the Roofing & Stone business and operations heads in presenting and understanding results.
  • Responsible for ensuring adequate financial controls and reviews and Roofing & Stone SOX compliance.
  • Assist internal and external audit requests to the business unit to ensure timetables are met, and follow up on any potential issues and internal audit reports related to the business unit.
  • Drive the support for the Roofing & Stone business and operations heads in business development and M&A activities including integration of operations, systems, policies and procedures, and internal reporting with the Westlake model.
  • Review monthly financial performance and forecasts.
  • Oversees and helps coordinate the Roofing & Stone annual operating budget activities, assisting the business and operations heads in budgeting.
  • Assists Director-Controller and HIP segment controller in assuring that accounting policies and practices are being followed.
  • Works closely with the Roofing & Stone accounting team in planning and completing process improvement initiatives.
  • Oversees the accounting team in the preparations of the Roofing & Stone monthly forecast, SBU/segment level reporting, review of each plant's results prior to close and review of other reserves.
  • Works harmoniously with staff and trains staff as appropriate for their position and training needs. Developing staff is an important part of this position.
  • Fully supports company goals of continuous improvement and operational excellence at strategic and tactical levels including reviewing area of responsibility for improvement opportunities to initiate projects or communicate ideas to management as well as active participation on project teams.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • B.S. Degree in Accounting or equivalent with ten plus years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in both public accounting and the private sector, preferably with a manufacturing company. Relevant education or certifications may be considered in lieu of the required experience.
  • CPA and/or MBA preferred.
  • Knowledge of general financial and cost accounting, financial investment techniques, and financial statement preparation is required.
  • Must have knowledge of cost accounting in a manufacturing industry similar to the Housing & Infrastructure Products segment, as well as strong analytical capabilities.
  • Ten years plus of Supervisory/Management experience.
  • Knowledge of computerized accounting systems and proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel (required) is critical to the position.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office. Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators. Travel up to 20% including air travel or auto travel may occasionally be required.
