JOB SUMMARY

The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for directing end-to-end procurement strategy, optimizing supply chain processes, and introducing scalable solutions through technology integration. A key focus of this role is building and nurturing strong supplier relationships to ensure timely material availability and to mitigate escalation risks across projects and business units. In this position, you will collaborate closely with project teams and field operations to proactively address vendor and manufacturer challenges, ensuring smooth execution and alignment with organizational goals. You will also lead a team of procurement professionals, fostering a culture of performance, innovation, and cross-functional collaboration. This role requires strategic vision, operational excellence, and a commitment to continuous improvement in procurement practices. DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

* Operate with integrity and lead by example, promoting ethical procurement practices across the organization.

* Deliver quarterly communications on commodity trends and supply chain risks to keep executive and project stakeholders proactively informed.

* Develop and negotiate strategic annual and project-specific vendor agreements to drive competitive pricing, service excellence, and long-term value.

* Lead performance evaluations and strategic reviews of key suppliers, ensuring alignment with quality, reliability, and business objectives.

* Own and execute the purchasing buy-out strategy for all projects, with a specific focus on quarterly sheet metal procurement.

* Expand and maintain vendor intelligence tools, including scorecards and preferred vendor databases, to support data-driven decision making.

* Collaborate with the Director of Preconstruction to implement bundling strategies that reduce cost and increase procurement efficiency.

* Identify and manage rebate partnerships to maximize financial returns from supplier programs and agreements.

* Oversee EDI operations and champion technology initiatives that streamline procurement workflows and enhance automation.

* Partner with the technology team to evolve the ERP front-end tools, enabling Operations to engage more effectively with procurement systems.

* Provide strategic guidance during project buyouts by coordinating across Preconstruction, Operations, and vendor partners.

* Manage procurement-related technology platforms (TAAdvantage, Vendor Observations, GPOM, Subcontracts Automation), ensuring usability, adoption, and performance.

* Lead continuous improvement initiatives across procurement processes to boost accuracy, speed, and quality of outcomes.

* Collaborate with project teams to swiftly resolve procurement challenges and minimize impact on project timelines.

* Mentor and manage the Purchasing department, fostering a high-performance team culture and delivering on key performance metrics.

* Support Profit Center and Support Group Managers in navigating complex supply chain dynamics and procurement obstacles.

* Represent Purchasing at key operational meetings, including Logistics Risk Assessments, Project Reviews, and R0 rework sessions.

* Travel to Charlotte quarterly to strengthen cross-location alignment and vendor relationships.

* Cultivate strong partnerships with suppliers, manufacturers, and the internal team, including Virtual Construction, Preconstruction, Quality, and Operations.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related field

* Minimum 3 years' procurement, supply chain, or relevant experience

* 1-2 years' experience in a managerial or project management role

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

* Knowledge of piping, plumbing, and sheet metal materials, and field installation

* Proficiency with Smartsheet

* Comfortable with current and emerging technologies, with a focus on automation and integration.

* Ability to review and interpret cost, risk, and vendor information to support informed purchasing decisions

* Effective communicator across functions and levels, capable of building relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

* Skilled in interpreting data to inform purchasing decisions, vendor performance, and cost optimization.

* Proven ability to lead, mentor, and motivate a team, while managing performance and fostering professional growth.

* Strong ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently while minimizing project impact.

* Flexible in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and evolving business needs.

* Demonstrates honesty, accountability, and ethical behavior in all business dealings and decision-making processes.

* Proactively identifies opportunities to streamline processes, eliminate waste, and enhance efficiency across procurement functions.

* Operates with a high level of autonomy, makes informed decisions confidently, and takes initiative to resolve issues without excessive oversight.

* Ability to engage with suppliers to support favorable terms and assist in resolving issues professionally and collaboratively
