The Patient Liaison works as a team member to assist internal and external customers assuring accurate and complete registration, scheduling appointments, demographic information, insurance coverage, collecting payments and monitoring customer satisfaction.

Major Responsibilities:
1. Represents Gundersen Health System's high standards for customer service in all telephone and face-to-face encounters.
2. Facilitate unit operations through knowing and communicating information, managing desk area, technology support for staff, monitoring and communicating bed status, and coordinating downtime procedures.
3. Uses Epic computer system to help in the management of the electronic medical chart, including data input, appointment management, monitoring for accuracy and missing information.
4. Demonstrates effective, collaborative working relationships with health care team members.
5. Coordinates patients' daily schedule. (e.g., tests, exams, imaging, procedures, appointments and transportation.
6. Assists the patient discharge process as directed.
7. Participates in quality improvement activities in order to continuously improve patient care and unit operations.
8. Attends and participates in HUC meetings and unit staff meetings.
9. Demonstrates the following skills in accordance with unit standards and expectations - creative problem solving, organizational skills, critical thinking, sets priorities, utilizes appropriate lines of authority, responds to crisis situations and establish appropriate priorities.

10. Demonstrates dependability, organizational skills, and effective use of time by setting priorities to complete work within established timeframes.

11. Demonstrates role accountability by adhering to Gundersen Health System mission statement, policies, and confidentiality standards.

12. Assists in the orientation of new staff. Also may act as proctor to HUC students.
13. Demonstrates and maintains successful completion of defined core competencies in computer skills related to patient registration and appointment scheduling.
14. Obtains appropriate signatures on forms relating to registration, billing, and patient care, meeting all compliance regulations and requirements.

15. Provide virtual sitting for patients following applicable policies and procedures.

16. Adheres to regular and predictable attendance.
17. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Education and Learning:
REQUIRED
High School Diploma or equivalency

Work Experience:
REQUIRED
No experience required.

DESIRED
6 months previous experience in the HUC or healthcare-related field.

Category I - All Employees in this job title have a reasonably anticipated risk of occupational exposure to blood and/or other potentially infectious materials.
