Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The BSA & Compliance Support role assists the Compliance Officer, VP of Risk Management, and BSA team with day-to-day compliance operations. This includes handling research, tracking, reporting, and administrative tasks related to Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and overall risk management. The position helps ensure regulatory requirements are met while also contributing to broader risk reduction initiatives across the Credit Union.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

General Responsibilities



  • Process daily Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs).
  • Analyze weekly Monetary Instrument purchases involving cash via Verafin.
  • Run bi-weekly 314(a) scans; escalate potential matches immediately.
  • Maintain member complaint log and ensure proper resolution by management.
  • Prepare monthly reports for the Board on CTR and SAR activity.
  • Update and submit the Red Flag/Identity Theft report monthly.
  • Support high-risk member review activities and assist with BSA alerts.
  • Log and respond to team-submitted Requests for Investigation (RFIs).


  • Administrative Duties


  • Track destruction logs of checks from branches monthly.
  • Draft and send letters to members with excessive overdrafts.
  • Process annual Conflict of Interest forms for employees and board members.
  • Manage Notary and Signature Guarantee access for team members.
  • Assist in maintaining Mortgage Originator IDs and training (NMLS).
  • Conduct manual OFAC searches as requested for payments and wires.
  • Report counterfeit currency to the Treasury Department.


  • Internal Controls & Risk Management


  • Support updates to internal compliance/risk procedures.
  • Monitor compliance with fraud prevention procedures.
  • Serve as a resource for team members on BSA and compliance questions.
  • Maintain regular status updates with the Compliance Officer or VP of Risk.
  • Take on additional projects and responsibilities as needed.


Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE



  • Two years in a financial institution. Compliance or teller experience is a plus.
  • Associate degree preferred. Equivalent experience considered.
  • Relevant certifications are a plus.


KEY COMPETENCIES



  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations and internal controls.
  • Familiarity with BSA/AML laws and fraud prevention practices.
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
  • Solid judgment and critical thinking skills for risk assessment.
  • Effective communication skills-both written and verbal.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Team player with the ability to work independently when needed.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and core systems (e.g., Verafin, HRIS).
  • Comfortable analyzing data and preparing professional reports.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT



  • Work Environment: Business office, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to sit or stand at a desk the majority of the day; talk or hear; stand or walk occasionally. While performing the duties of this job, the team member is typically utilizing a computer, keyboard, and phone. May occasionally reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, and crouch.
