Perioperative Implant/Tissue Specialist

Summary
Responsible for managing requests for implants and tissue used in the Operating Room.

Essential Functions
Works directly with clinical partners to identify and fulfill implant and tissue product needs.
Coordinates with vendors regarding instrumentation and implant requests for surgical cases, including confirmation of the request, Vendor receipt, delivery of the product, and stocking in assigned locations.
Communicates all issues relating to order status back to departmental leadership and as needed to surgeons and clinical leaders.
Receives all implant and tissue shipments, verifies receipts against requests, and reports discrepancies to leadership.

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent required

  • Some college or Associate's Degree preferred

Experience

Required:

  • Experience in supply chain and/or par level management (greater than 1 year)

Preferred:

  • Experience in healthcare inventory management (greater than 1 year)

  • Experience working in an Operating Room environment (greater than 1 year)

Fiscal Responsibility

Maintains financially responsible purchasing practices by maintaining accurate par levels to reduce costs associated with on-hand inventory and minimize the need for urgent freight needs.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Exceptional customer service and problem-solving skills are essential. Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand medical terminology to follow written instructions and complete various forms and records related to equipment processing and preparation.

  • Basic computer skills are required, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and similar programs; knowledge of PeopleSoft and EPIC is preferred.

  • Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment while seeking supervisory assistance as needed.
