POSITION TITLE: NDT LEVEL II-NORFOLK

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
The individual in this position is responsible for supporting the Nondestructive Testing (NDT) and Welding Workmanship programs at Phoenix through on-site inspection services, personnel training and qualification, and auditing. Primary support is for our Norfolk Operations, but work may also include our other facilities as well as operational support worldwide. This position requires field work with little direct supervision and some travel. This position reports to the Norfolk Mechanical/Welding Engineer, Certified Welding Instructor (CWI) for daily operations and to the NDT Manager/Examiner for technical oversight.

CLASSIFICATION: NON-EXEMPT (HOURLY) DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Performs on-site NDT inspections at customer shipyards or marine facilities.
* Supports Quality Control of all Phoenix NDT procedures.
* Ensures all NDT inspection documentation is properly completed, organized, and stored to support inspections and audits.
* Maintains professional interactions with customer welding, inspection, and supervisory personnel.
* Conducts NDT training and surveillance of Phoenix personnel.
* Maintains NDT related equipment to ensure Ready for Issue (RFI) status.
* Works with the Phoenix NDT Manager/Examiner to generate and qualify Phoenix NDT procedures and personnel qualifications.
* Reviews inspection or welding project requirements to determine whether existing approved Phoenix NDT inspection procedures are applicable.
* Conducts quality assurance audits of NDT related projects.
* Maintains awareness of new and emerging NDT technology.
* Works to continuously improve-in all aspects-the NDT program at Phoenix.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
* High school diploma or equivalent or 5 years of experience in the NDT industry.
* Hold current ASNT NDT Level II (VT, MT, UT, and PT) qualifications.
* Experience in shipyard operating environment.
* Ability to read and interpret ship drawings, details, and installation drawings.
* Familiarity with commercial, U.S. Navy, and other Government NDT instructions and MIL Standards and Specifications.
* A working knowledge of MIL-SPEC, MIL-STD, ABS, and AWS codes.
* Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
* Ability to resolve conflicts with modest supervision.
* Strong interpersonal skills to work and communicate with highly technical personnel.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills and organizational skills.
* Ability to produce detailed written reports and give oral presentations (Microsoft PowerPoint) to perspective clients.
* Ability to board vessels and willingness to travel to Phoenix and customer facilities as required.
* Ability to walk unassisted and carry 50 pounds.
* Ability to pass pre-hire drug/alcohol testing and have a satisfactory background check.
* Sensitivity to company proprietary information.
