Compensation At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members, and we are committed to transparency in our pay practices. The estimated annual base salary range for this position is $124960 - $165572. Individual pay within this salary range is determined by several compensable factors, including performance, knowledge, job-related skills and experience, and relevant education or training. This role is also eligible for S&C's annual incentive plan (AIP), subject to eligibility criteria. Join Our Team as a Senior Engineer (Generators)! Are you passionate about Electrical and Mechanical Laboratories? S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual to join our Electrical and Mechanical Labs team. As a Senior Engineer (Generators), you'll be crucial in ensuring continued innovation and supporting our diverse team. The Senior Engineer-Generators is responsible for leading medium and large-scale projects to improve the lab's capabilities related to testing of switchgear products and to maintain the lab's facilities and process. This role involves designing, simulating and troubleshooting the lab's equipment and processes, focusing on the lab's high-power generators and controls. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, developing test equipment, test methods, analyzing test data and providing insights to support product development and quality improvement efforts. The Senior Engineer is expected to coach other team members to ensure their development and skills retention in the lab. The Senior Engineer will report to Senior Manager-NJC Laboratories. Key Responsibilities: * Perform technical inspections on, create plans for and lead preventative maintenance of, and assess the performance of electric generators and their drive system. * Develop preventative maintenance strategies, assessment strategies and implement those strategies for generator stators, rotors, electric windings, insulation, controls and instrumentation. * Lead efforts to troubleshoot issues and apply standard engineering methods and techniques to solve the issues related to generator stators, rotors, electrical windings, insulation, controls and instrumentation. Collaborate with other teams and industry experts to develop solutions and improvements. * Collaborate with design engineering teams to understand project requirements, develop complex engineering solutions based on the requirements and global/local standards and ensure successful execution. * Direct lab personnel during the execution of projects. * Set up and operate testing equipment, ensuring adherence to safety protocols. * Accurately collect test data and measurements. Analyze and interpret measurements using statistical methods and engineering tools to draw meaningful conclusions and make data-driven recommendations. * Prepare detailed test reports and project reports, including methodology, results and analysis. Communicate finding and recommendations to stakeholders. * Ensure project activities comply with industry standards, safety regulations and internal quality management systems. * Develop and manage plans for assessment and maintenance of the lab's test equipment. * Write functional specifications, project requirements, test plans, design documentation and training documentation. * Coach and mentor other team members to support their career growth and to ensure skills retention in the lab. * Identify opportunities to enhance test methodology, equipment and processes. * Understand and comply with all applicable company policies and rules. What you'll Need To Succeed: Job Requirements (To select this job at a minimum you must have the following): * Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or a related field. * 5+ years of experience in power plant maintenance, turbine generator maintenance and/or generator drive maintenance in an industrial, utility or oil and gas setting. * Excellent understanding of electrical generators, including generator design, maintenance methodologies, controls, protection and instrumentation. * 3+ years of experience in electrical testing and assessments of generator stators, rotors, windings and insulation. * Experience with IEEE and IEC switchgear standards. * Proficient with relevant lab instrumentation, scopes, DMMs, high-voltage and high-current measurements. * Adherence to safety protocols and commitment to maintaining a safe work environment. * Meticulous approach to data collection and documentation to ensure accuracy and precision. * Ability to coach and mentor other team members, setting work and testing standards for others in the department. * Ability to work in a team environment, contribute ideas and support team goals. Preferred * Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or a related field. * Previous leadership experience. * Knowledge of ISO-17025. Major Physical Demands: Sitting-Frequently required to remain in a stationary position and perform desk-based tasks for 8 hours at a time approximately [5] days per week Walking-Occasionally required to walk moderate distances multiple times each day while performing a FAT or on a job site Manual Dexterity-Frequently required to use hand-eye coordination to control both hands and arms for a full range of motion to operate equipment/machinery/power tools/office productivity equipment Observation / Eyesight-Frequently required to observe details at close range, including depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to differentiate between colors Communication-Continuously required to talk and hear, in person and by phone/conference calls Travel-Occasionally required to travel (up to 20%) and work extended hours when necessary.
