Velosity Forest Lake is searching for a Toolmaker on either 2nd or 3rd shift to support our manufacturing facility in Forest Lake, MN. The Toolmaker is responsible for executing tasks to support the building, service, and repair of molds, tooling, and fixtures.

This is an on-site position.

Schedule: 2nd shift - Monday-Friday 3:00pm-11:30pm OR 3rd shift - Sunday-Thursday 11:30pm-7:30am

The typical pay range for this role: $27.80 - $41.71. This role is also eligible for our 5% target bonus program.

This pay range reflects the base hourly rate or annual salary for positions within this job grade, based on our market-based pay structures. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as skills, relevant experience, education, internal equity, business needs, and local market conditions. While the full range is shared for transparency, offers are rarely made at the minimum or maximum of the range.

Essential Duties:

Manufacturer Quality Tooling

  • Build tool components at a high level of accuracy.
  • Tooling free from errors requiring unnecessary rework to repair or replace components.
  • Maintain tooling thru execution of repair and maintenance. Provide quick turnaround on repairs and service.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on all molds.
  • Build precision gages and fixtures to support other manufacturing areas and have an understanding of component and/or mold manufacturing and ability to make decisions on in processing tolerances.
  • Create documentation notes as needed for tools constructed.

Tool component construction and schedule attainment

  • Assist production and maintenance on tasks when needed.
  • Proficient as either a C.N.C. machinist or EDM Sinker and Wire EDM programmer and operator
  • Plan and schedule tasks and projects.
  • Working with the Quality Manager, create or update position procedures book, following documentation change control policies.
  • Set up and operate most standard tool room equipment including conventional mills, lathes, surface grinders.

Continuous Improvement

  • Ability to suggest improvement to molds or process including materials & machines
  • Examines standard or previously used molds, tools, and jigs and fixtures, and recommends design modifications regarding construction and function of part
  • Ability to develop specifications from general descriptions for specialty tools & draw or sketches design for repair or improvement.

Demonstrate and maintain safe execution of work activities and conduct 5S activities.

  • Follow and comply with all safety rules and regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Utilize 5S practices to organize the manufacturing area. (Sort, set in order, shine, standardize, and sustain)

Other duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED-General Studies.
  • 2 year tech degree in tool and die or mold making
  • Valid identification and the ability to work legally in the United States.
  • 5 years' experience in a Tool shop

Physical & Mental Demands:

  • Walking is required within the office/shop areas. Sitting, standing, turning the head and torso, reaching, grasping, bending and flexing the arms, legs, wrists, and fingers are physical requirements. Must have correctable eyesight and good depth perception. Must be able to sit for long periods of time. Must be able to walk, sit and occasionally climb and balance. Must be able to lift 30 pounds and move objects in a safe manner using proper equipment. Must have dexterity with hands.
  • Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks and complete them within a timely manner (results oriented); Ability to make decisions with limited information.

Work Environment:

This is a non-smoking, professional manufacturing shop with normal lighting and climate control. This position may require one to move throughout the shop and office and may be subject to airborne contaminants and chemical odors as would be customary in an injection molding/ Precision Machining shop.

Protective Clothing Required:

When in certain locations of the facility, eye and ear protection are required. Closed-toed/ Slip resistant shoes are also required in certain locations.
