ESSENTIAL TASKS:

• Follow prescribed safety regulations.
• Plan and perform all required operations to machine rectangle product to a finished size and tolerance, along with any other samples or products that require a CNC machined surface.
• Setup and operate CNC machines to mill parts to a finished size with surface suitable for sonic inspection.
• Trouble shoot problems with machines and make corrections when possible, reporting only unusual situations to others.
• Secure parts in milling machines in a manner that will result in safe operation. Inspect parts to be milled and determine amount to be removed per side to remove defects and be in tolerance. Set, align and secure individual tools. Set tool offsets and programmable offsets. Replace tooling as necessary to maintain surface finish. Perform machining operations to close tolerance and check work with precision measuring devices.
• Detect and report defective materials, improper operations, and unusual conditions to proper supervision.
• Operate band saws to cut material to specified lengths.
• Operate jib and overhead crane to load and unload CNC machine and/or load band saw.
• Operate IME to move parts.
• Empty turnings and tag when necessary.
• Read and use measuring instruments such as micrometers, and calipers to measure the part prior to and after machining for correctness.

NON-ESSENTIAL TASKS:

• Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
• Perform other and related duties as required or directed.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Education requirement: General high school diploma or GED.
• General knowledge of CNC operations. Must be willing to take classes to obtain certification.
• Must be able to maintain IME certification by fulfilling all requirements.

Ability to work from specifications, and other data or instructions to read and edit numerical control programs on the controller to mill material to close tolerances as to radii, angles, face and diameters. Ability to make necessary calculations to determine feeds, speeds, and depths of cuts.
