Brief Summary of Work for this Position |
This temporary position is 20 hours per week, running from August 4, 2025 through at least December 12, 2025 with potential for continuation into the spring 2026 semester.
The typical schedule will be Monday through Thursday 8 am - 1 pm. Flexibility in availability is preferred to occasionally work alternative hours as needed, but weekly hours will not fall below 20.
The
Temporary User Services Library Technician provides front line services for patrons at the Library Help Desk at the
UNCW Library in order to access, discover, and utilize library resources. This position assists patrons in locating and accessing library resources, answers questions about the Library and the campus, provides basic reference assistance, and checks out/in library materials, and assists with shelving returned materials. In addition, this position maintains a thorough knowledge of circulation and library policies and interprets and enforces these policies as needed.
This position accurately collects library fines and fees and maintains accurate patron financial records. Additionally, this position assists with special projects as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
High School diploma or equivalency |
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience |
- Previous front-line customer service experience
- Previous experience working in a library
- Experience using an ILS system such as Sierra or Alma
- Familiarity with Library of Congress classification system for retrieving/shelving library materials
- Working knowledge of User Services processes such as check in/checkout, shelf reading, shelving, and inventory
- Experience with technology used in libraries
