Sr Strategic Sourcing Specialist - Indirect Spend

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of four years' experience in strategic sourcing or category management of indirect spend within the energy industry, covering areas such as HR, IT, Facilities, Marketing, and Finance/Accounting.

Primary Duties

1. Develops and utilizes sourcing strategies with the goal of identifying and initiating continuous cost reduction opportunities while simultaneously promoting process standardization and continuous improvements in quality, service and delivery.

2. Creates and manages supply and/or service agreements with focus on risk management, reliability and cost effectiveness. Maintain effective supplier relations. Actively leads and/or participates in enterprise-wide sourcing teams.

3. Conducts source selection, qualification, contract negotiations, procurement, management and MRP (Material, Requirements and Planning) analysis of assigned commodities, inventories and special projects.

4. Employs Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) evaluation on major commodity groups sourced. Educates user community on the importance of TCO evaluation and effectively communicates business impact. Develops and utilizes economic analysis model consistent with cost drivers for various commodities.

5. Initiates and leads cross-functional efforts to achieve standardization, leverages expenditures, adopts and implements best practices.

6. Determines appropriate supply plan and carryout required actions utilizing available procurement support personnel.

7. Coordinates and expedites, both internally and externally, flow of materials, parts and assemblies, maintains effective interdepartmental communications and assists with technical direction and guidance as required.

8. Supports Supplier Diversity program and works to ensure small diverse business enterprises are proactively developed and incorporated to the purchasing strategies.

9. Compiles and evaluates information for forecasting product requirements to suppliers.

10. Evaluates and implements e-commerce solutions to enhance procurement efficiencies as feasible.

11. Keeps abreast of current market knowledge for services, materials, supplies and equipment needed to support company operations.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Educational/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related technical discipline with a minimum of four years' experience in strategic sourcing or category management of indirect spend within the energy industry, covering areas such as HR, IT, Facilities, Marketing, and Finance/Accounting. Professional Registration is preferable.

Communication Skills:
Must be able to develop and maintain effective business relationships with internal clients as well as supplier representatives. Effective interpersonal and communication skills are a must. Requires the ability to prepare and give effective professional presentations at all levels of the organization. Must be able to direct, lead and facilitate cross-functional teams. Requires the ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers in order to obtain and/or provide explanations and/or information on details necessary for strategic sourcing activities.

Numeric Skills:
Must be able to develop and utilize economic total cost of ownership models for the evaluation of vendor proposals. Requires the ability to perform analyses involving ratios, percentages and simple statistical methods.

Computer Skills:
Requires intermediate computer skills for economic analysis (e.g. MS Excel) and correspondence (e.g. MS Word). Requires knowledge of: integrated purchasing and inventory control databases (Such as: Oracle, SAP, etc.), and contract management / sourcing applications (Such as Oracle, Ariba, Workday, etc.)

Work Conditions:
Works in an office environment with some domestic travel (20 - 30%)
Requires occasionally performing activities including, but not limited to, bending, stooping, grasping, reaching, twisting, turning and/or lifting.
