The Performance Marketing Manager role contributes to the success of Brookfield Zoo Chicago ("BZC") by driving revenue growth through data-driven performance marketing strategies that align with BZC's mission of inspiring conservation leadership by connecting people with wildlife and nature. The role manages the planning, execution, and optimization or digital marketing campaigns, including SEO, SEM, paid media, and analytics. Additionally, the role involves managing and entering CRM database records, pulling and analyzing marketing metrics, and supporting the fulfillment, scaling, and digitization of marketing programs. The role also supports the implementation of the Zoo's new website and CRM systems to enhance overall marketing performance.

This is a non-union full-time salaried position, grade 09 with an expected hiring range of $77,916.67 to $85,708.33 per year. Primary job duties and responsibilities:

  1. *Lead relationship with advertising agency alongside to traffic creative assets, lead status calls, support creative reviews, and oversee the launch, monitoring, and optimization of advertising campaigns for key performance metrics and ROI.
  2. *Work with creative partners to develop advertising campaigns across television, radio, social, programmatic, out of home, etc.
  3. *Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure marketing campaigns align with organizational goals and objectives and conduct A/B tests to deepen learnings.
  4. *Regularly pull and analyze paid and owned performance marketing data from platforms like Google Analytics, Meta, and others to monitor effectiveness, track campaign performance, and provide actionable insights for strategy optimization.
  5. *Build and scale data-driven dashboards to provide comprehensive insights and improve decision-making across the organization.
  6. *Manage and implement SEO and SEM strategies to improve online visibility and drive traffic through regular website updates, audits, and edits.
  7. *Assist with the implementation of the Zoo's new website and CRM system, ensuring these tools enhance marketing efforts and operational efficiency.
  8. *Identify new opportunities for data-driven revenue growth.
  9. *Develop audience journeys for Brookfield Zoo Chicago and build profiles to understand audiences, boost visitor engagement, and segment audiences for optimal targeting.
  10. *Perform marketing research and develop surveys to understand market insights and emerging marketing trends to stay competitive in the market.
  11. *Maintain and manage marketing records in the CRM database with 100% accuracy. Determine ways to simplify, scale, and automate the process. Use CRM to pull audiences lists for email targeting and audience analysis.
  12. *Update website content based on SEO best practices, including editing copy, updating metadata, and creating new pages. Monitor site performance and recommend improvements.
  13. *Oversee the digitization of the Zoo's marketing programs, ensuring they scale effectively and reporting metrics are actionable.
  14. *Collaborate with internal teams to identify how marketing can support their goals, address concerns, provide updates, manage expectations, resolve challenges, and fulfill requests in a professional manner. Maintain accurate records of communications and actions in the CRM database.
  15. *Create surveys to gather market insights, analyze responses, and design targeted emails to engage participants, share results, and drive further action.

Position requirements and specifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Advertising, Marketing, Business, or a related field or eight years of equivalent experience with a high school diploma or educational equivalent (e.g., GED) required.
  • Six years of experience in performance marketing, digital advertising, or a related role.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to analyze data and share actionable insights.
  • Experience with managing paid media campaigns and advertising budgets.
  • Understanding of paid media metrics.
  • Experience with dashboards and data visualization.
  • Experience in creative asset management and collaborating with content teams.
  • Proficiency in SEO, SEM, and paid media campaign management.
  • Experience with CRM platforms and data entry with high accuracy.
  • Knowledge of analytics tools like Google Analytics and performance reporting dashboards.
  • Strong organizational, problem solving, and time-management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong email and telephone etiquette required.
  • Strong customer service, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.

  • Cultural competency; experience and/or ability to work and interact effectively with a diverse, multicultural audience.
  • A valid driver's license required at time of hire. Illinois residents must possess a valid Illinois driver's license or obtain one within 90 days of hire. Valid out-of-state driver's license is required for out-of-state residents.



Desirable/preferred qualifications:



  • Experience with creating SQL queries and working with databases for advanced data analysis.
  • Ability to code in languages such as Python or R for automation and deeper analytical insights.
  • Strong skills in advanced analytics, including predictive modeling, data visualization, and machine learning.
  • Experience with Blackbaud's Raiser's Edge database system preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word mail merge a plus.
  • Multilingual ability, Spanish fluency a plus.

Dental Insurance & Vision Care Coverage: A dental plan and an employee-paid vision care plan are available. A waiver credit is offered to employees who waive enrollment in the dental plan. Coverage begins on the employee's hire date.

Mental Health: Support, counseling, and resources for life issues at no cost to the employee. Eligible employees and their immediate family have access to Perspectives, a dynamic Employee Assistance Plan (EAP) which provides 24/7, confidential care and resources to address work and life stressors.

Brookfield Zoo Chicago has partnered with Project Dragonfly at Miami University of Ohio to bring an exciting Master's degree program to the Chicagoland area. The Zoo has a "Little Free Library" book exchange. If an employee sees a book they would like to read, they can take it, or they may donate a book they have finished. When they are done, they can return it to the Little Free Library or leave it at another Little Free Library location for others to enjoy.

Zoo Day Camp Discount

Zoo staff who register their child(ren) for Summer Camp at Brookfield Zoo Chicago receive a discounted price for a week of camp for each child registered. The discount is limited to immediate family members only (grandchildren included). Lunch and T-shirts are not discounted.

Zoo Discounts

Employee discounts are available on BZC gift shop and restaurant purchases, including 25 cent drinks when the Zoo-issued drink cup is used.
