DESCRIPTION

The Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) for the Certified Clinical Partner (CCP) Float Pool applies advanced knowledge and experience in nursing education to ensure optimal clinical knowledge, safety, and skill development for CNA and Patient Sitter staff across 40 inpatient units. This role requires expertise in adult learning, patient safety, trauma-informed care, and workforce development strategies, with a focus on building resilience and long-term engagement within the CCP Float Pool. This role is critical to ensuring CCP team members are well-prepared to deliver safe, high-quality care across diverse clinical settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leads onboarding, orientation, and competency development for CCP Float Pool staff.
  • Designs and implements training programs aligned with system-wide patient care standards.
  • Supports continuing education and CEU compliance to maintain staff certification and retention.
  • Collaborates with nursing leadership and interdisciplinary teams to support staff deployment and resource optimization.
  • Participates in the development of care models, externship pathways, and clinical education programs in partnership with academic and internal stakeholders.
  • Contributes to quality improvement, safety initiatives, and wellness strategies for CCP Float Pool staff.
  • Provides mentorship and guidance to clinical staff.

This position applies skills and experience as an experienced nurse educator to ensure optimal clinician knowledge and skills through education and training in either general or specialized nursing education and/or training. The CNE serves as an instructor for entry or intermediate clinical nurse educators and leads the implementation of new educational programs and workforce support initiatives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing.

  • Registered Nurse in the State of California.

  • Three (3) or more years of relevant nursing education experience.

  • Thorough knowledge of delivering clinical nursing education and training material for orientation and skills / competency learning and leadership development.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to provide education, training, and resources, and to develop positive working relationships with nursing staff and leadership.

  • Detail oriented, with proven organizational skills to effectively manage time, prioritize tasks, and see projects through to completion on deadline.

  • Strong skills in written and verbal communication to collaborate productively in a team environment with all levels of internal and external personnel and to convey complex clinical information in a clear, concise manner.

  • Thorough knowledge of a broad spectrum of professional nursing practices and issues.

  • Thorough knowledge of methodology for conducting evidence-based research, data collection, analysis, and reporting.

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage multiple levels of information and responsibilities, and to quickly assess moderately-complex problems to develop potential solutions.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's degree in Nursing

  • Certificate within area of specialty

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $116,000 - $224,200 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $55.56 - $107.38

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
