Job Description

Join the Baker College Campus Safety Team and help create a secure, welcoming environment for all. As a Campus Safety Officer, you'll play a key role in protecting students, faculty, staff, and visitors by patrolling assigned areas on foot or in vehicles, monitoring buildings and grounds, and responding to emergencies. Your responsibilities include enforcing campus rules, providing escorts and assistance such as lockouts or jump-starts, reporting safety hazards, investigating incidents, and securing facilities. You'll also monitor parking areas, collaborate with law enforcement when necessary, and serve as a Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act. Two years of work experience, either full- or part-time, in law enforcement, military, or security is required. An associate's degree from an accredited college or university in Criminal Justice or a related field is preferred. Officers must maintain a valid Concealed Pistol License, a valid driver's license, and certification in First Aid and CPR/AED. Officers must meet the qualifications set forth by the laws of the State of Michigan and Baker College, and they are required to carry a firearm as a condition of employment. Additionally, officers must provide and carry a personally owned quality large or medium frame semi-automatic pistol in either 9mm or .40 caliber, suitable for duty use, with the Director of Campus Safety being the final arbiter of the handgun's suitability. They must also provide and utilize a quality holster with a minimum level II retention rating, with the Director of Campus Safety determining its suitability.
