- Estimated annual base pay: $24.96 (minimum) - $31.20 (midpoint) - $37.44 (maximum)

Are you ready to make your mark? If you're a Chemical Lab Technician, we have an exciting opportunity for you. The Chemical Lab Technician, Level 1, reports to the Materials Engineering Leader and is responsible for maintaining and performing chemical analysis (wet chemistry) of solutions used in chemical and electrochemical processing of materials, along with the associated periodic testing to validate the processes. This individual is also responsible for testing fuel properties as required by company documentation. This position requires a moderate level of supervision; most work is still reviewed by more senior members of the team.
What You Will Be Doing
- Analyzes chemical solutions used in the chemical/electrochemical processing of materials for products such as fuel controls, actuators and pumps.
- Tests fuel properties such as particle contamination and lubricity of fuel used in test stands and pump farm on a regular schedule
- Mixes chemical solutions needed for production for the materials lab and for other departments as necessary
- Ensures laboratory equipment is maintained and calibrated appropriately.
- Assists development with fuel testing during design assurance testing, certification testing, etc.
- Records test results (numerical and graphical data); reviews test results for compliance to test objectives and documents test process
- Runs corrosion/process quality assurance testing
What We Are Looking For
- High School Diploma required.
- Associate's Degree preferred.
- Knowledge of Six Sigma principles and lean manufacturing techniques/processes in order to improve operational effectiveness. Ability to effectively work in a team environment and maintain good customer focus. Good understanding of organizational structure and flow of information in the company. Recognizes problems which are beyond capabilities and seeks help from senior members.
- Ability to read and use a wide range of precision mechanical and electrical measurement devices.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills including presentations (internal only). Basic technical writing skills. Ability to interact effectively with customers during witness testing, customer visits, and in similar situations.
- Basic PC skills with some functional experience using spreadsheets, word processing and WISE screens.
- Ability to set up and troubleshoot basic instrumentation.
- Basic knowledge of appropriate WISE applications.
- Maintain proper organization and cleanliness of test set ups, work areas and common areas. Follows all Woodward safety directives.
- Ability to read and understand an SDS.
- Understanding of chemical and lab safety requirements.
