Requirements
The Quality Inspector is responsible for inspecting parts, assemblies and finished products to drawings and specifications. Assist the Director of Quality and Quality Engineer(s) as needed. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
- Performs a wide variety of mechanical and electro-mechanical inspections on parts and assemblies.
- Follows general inspection guidelines to conduct visual, dimensional, mechanical, electrical test and functional inspections on a wide variety of components & assemblies.
- Performs complex and critical inspection procedures requiring special set-up of new or unique equipment and interpretation of test data from a variety of sources
- Conduct receiving, first article, in-process, and final inspection of parts & assemblies.
- Perform document review to ensure material traceability and product compliance.
- Must be able to effectively communicate with co-workers in training scenarios.
- Coordinate required inspection activities in the absence of the Director of Quality.
- Performs other related duties as required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES N/A JOB QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION
- High school diploma or GED Equivalent.
EXPERIENCE
- 5+ years related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with AS9100D, ISO 9001, and other quality standards.
- Experience with non-conformances, root cause analyses, and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) is a plus.
- Experience in aerospace manufacturing or defense industry is a plus.
- Electrical/Electronic experience/background is a plus.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- ASQ - Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) is a plus.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, OR ABILITIES
- Standards and Specifications: Knowledge and experience working with AS9100D and related standards, including internal and external auditing and assessments.
- Language/Communication: English, Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with team.
- Computer Skills: Basic MS Office skills required (Outlook, Word, Excel), Must be able to navigate company intranet to find industry specifications and company policies & procedures. Must be able to create/add documents and perform inspection / quality system transactions within the company's quality system software.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Reasoning Abilities: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills, strict attention to details and ability to multitask and prioritize as necessary, with minimal supervisory direction. Must be flexible in handling multiple tasks. Continuous Improvement Mindset a must.
- Interpersonal Skills: Must work well within a team environment and independently.
- Technical Skills: Ability to use typical equipment, such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, & dial indicators. Working knowledge of ASME Y14.5 Standard (GD&T) desired.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk or hear; and frequently required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The associate must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member may occasionally be exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is low to moderate.
