Department:IT | EO Clinical EngineeringDepartment's Website: Summary of Job Duties:Minimum responsibilities of a Biomedical Equipment Tech I & II:Performs repairs on all facets of medical, diagnostic and therapeutic equipment used in the treatment of patients at UAMS. Accomplishes these tasks with minimal supervision required only on the most sophisticated equipment. Performs scheduled preventive maintenance and electrical safety inspections on medical, diagnostic and therapeutic equipment used in the treatment of patients at UAMS, it's clinics and health education centers. Accomplishes pm and work orders on time as scheduled. Performs software and networking related updates and repairs. Accomplishes these tasks with minimal supervision required only on the most sophisticated equipment. Provides clinical support to end item users of all facets of medical, diagnostic and therapeutic equipment used in the treatment of patients at UAMS. Provides in-service training to clinical staff and training to Biomedical Instrumentation Technology students on all facets of medical, diagnostic and therapeutic equipment used in the treatment of patients at UAMS. Initiates purchases for parts and materials needed to perform necessary repairs or preventative maintenance on all facets of medical, diagnostic and therapeutic equipment used in the treatment of patients at UAMS. Performs incident investigations for safety violations of risk equipment. Performs initial inspections on all new and rental equipment used in the treatment of patients at UAMS. Additional responsibilities of a Tech III: Provides pre-purchase evaluations on new medical, diagnostic and therapeutic equipment used in the treatment of patients at UAMS, with a focus on surgical services. Provides input to supervisor, and the director for department development. Provides information on equipment upgrades and technological changes in his or her area of expertise. Performs other non-technical roles related to clinical medical equipment management. Communicates and consults with Users on various matters. Provide leadership to personnel and possibly serve as temporary site manager in the absence of the director /manager/supervisor. This positions primary focus is the support for all inpatient and outpatient surgery areas, as well as corresponding Pre-Op and PACU units with an emphasis on life safety equipment. Qualifications: Biomedical Equipment Tech I: Associates degree in Biomedical Instrumentation Technology, Biomedical Equipment Technology, Biomedical Engineering Technology Electronics, Information Technology or related field. OR Equivalent Military Training OR 4 years' experience working in Biomedical Equipment repairs, Electronic repairs, Information Technology or related fields. Hospital environment preferred. Biomedical Equipment Tech II: Associates degree in Biomedical Instrumentation Technology, Biomedical Equipment Technology, Biomedical Engineering Technology, Electronics or related field, plus a minimum of three years related experience, and Qualify as a candidate for certification as a CBET, CLES, or CRES by AAMI (Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation) OR Equivalent Military Training, plus three years' experience working in a hospital or other healthcare environment and performing the tasks listed in the job description, and Qualify as a candidate for certification as a CBET, CLES, or CRES by AAMI (Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation) OR High School Diploma, plus five years of experience working in a hospital or other healthcare environment in Biomedical Equipment repairs, Electronic repairs, Information Technology or related fields and performing the tasks listed in the job description. Biomedical Equipment Tech III: Associates degree in Biomedical Instrumentation Technology, Biomedical Equipment Technology, Biomedical Engineering Technology Electronics or related field, and minimum of four years of related experience, plus certification as a CBET, CLES, or CRES by AAMI (Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation). A Networking, or IT equivalent certification will also be acceptable in place of CBET, CLES, or CRES certification. OR Equivalent Military Training, plus four years' experience working in a hospital or other healthcare environment and performing the tasks listed in the job description, plus certification as a CBET, CLES, or CRES by AAMI (Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation) OR Six years' experience working in a hospital or other healthcare environment working in Biomedical Equipment repairs, Electronic repairs, Information Technology or related fields and performing the tasks listed in the job description, plus certification as a CBET, CLES, or CRES by AAMI (Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation) OR Eight years' experience working in a hospital or other healthcare environment in Biomedical Equipment repairs, Electronic repairs, Information Technology or related fields and performing the tasks listed in the job description.
