THOR Solutions is actively seeking a System Engineering Managerto support Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC) Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Navigation & Electrical (C4N&E) activities at Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division (NSWC PCD) in Panama City, FL. The engineer will support the C4N&E project as Systems Engineering and Management support.

Typical Responsibilities:The candidate's responsibilities may include (but are not limited to) performing or supporting the following actions:
  • Support system integration and test of C&C software releases
  • Participate in review and testing of procedures and requirements to verify functionality meets requirements
  • Work with the system integrator to review and approve the overall system architecture
  • Perform additional tasks as required and requested by the design management team
  • Review ECPs and request for waivers and deviations
  • Provide engineering support for the ARC-210, ARC-220 and IFF as applicable to Ship to Shore Connector (SSC) craft construction
  • Participate in weekly SSC design team and C4N&E meetings
  • Support SSC Builder's Trials and Acceptance Trials
  • Provide feedback on technical documents delivered by the SSC integrator
  • Develop redlines to SSC craft specifications
  • Participate in review and testing of procedures and requirements to verify functionality meets requirements
  • Participate in the software design reviews conducted by the SSC integrator
  • Review of software products released by the SSC integrator

Location: Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division (NSWC PCD) in Panama City, FL.

Travel:Up to 10% travel is anticipated to include overseas.

US Citizenship Required:Due to the requirements of the federal contract that this position supports, U.S. citizenship is required. Citizenship will be confirmed via I-9/E-Verify at the start of employment.

Existing Secret Security Clearance Required: This position requires a DoD Secret security clearance. Only candidates with an existing Secret security clearance will be considered.

Typical Physical Activity:Primarily desk/computer work in an office environment. May involve: repetitive motion. Periodic visits to waterfront/shipboard environments. May involve: traversing shipboard environments (e.g., confined spaces, ladders, hatches) or vision.

Typical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a similar discipline, from an accredited institution.
  • At least three (3) to five (5) years of relevant professional experience, preferably obtained in a US Navy/DoD environment.
  • An ideal candidate will have knowledge of/experience with most of the following:
    • Maritime Navigation requirements
    • Network systems or Modbus and Modbus Transmission Control Protocol (TCP)
    • MIL-STD-1553C interface specifications
    • Controller Area Network bus (CANbus)
    • Data Acquisition Units (DAU)
    • The application of sensor technologies in military applications
    • The latest embedded architectures used by industry
    • Power distribution
    • 2D/3D CAD software skills
  • An ideal candidate will possess knowledge of/experience of:
    • One or more of the following: JCL, SQL, Git, Windows, Linux, UNIX, Java, CMPRO, Confluence, JIRA, Jenkins, Bitbucket, Gitlab, VxWorks, DOORS.
    • Scrum Project methodologiesand tools
    • Proficient in AutoCAD
  • Proficiency with common productivity software, including Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication skills; verbally and written
