Manager - Third Party ESG Governance & Responsible Procurement
Job ID: 99214

Do you want to work on complex and pressing challenges-the kind that bring together curious, ambitious, and determined leaders who strive to become better every day? If this sounds like you, you've come to the right place.
Your Impact
Optimize is McKinsey's global procurement capability-dedicated to enhancing and protecting the firm's resources and reputation by making responsible buying easy and enabling innovative, sustainable solutions across our supplier ecosystem.
We are seeking a Manager of Third-Party ESG Governance & Responsible Procurement. This position will play a key role in advancing McKinsey's global sustainable procurement strategy. Your work will focus on three core areas: ensuring alignment with evolving regulatory requirements, mitigating ESG risks in the supply chain, and embedding responsible procurement standards, processes, and tools across the firm.
You will lead the refinement and implementation of McKinsey's Supply Chain ESG Governance Framework and develop policies, standards, procedures, and systems that integrate ESG considerations into third-party decision-making. A critical part of this work will involve ensuring compliance with international sustainability regulations and frameworks such as the CSRD, CSDDD, Modern Slavery Acts, UNGC, and UNGPs.
In partnership with procurement teams, you'll work to integrate ESG criteria into sourcing and supplier evaluation processes. You will define and communicate supplier expectations through responsible sourcing policies and codes of conduct and oversee ESG assessments and due diligence using supply chain sustainability tools.
Your role will also involve tracking supplier performance against ESG KPIs and governance goals, supporting the development of sustainability disclosures aligned with frameworks like GRI and CDP, and managing audit and monitoring programs to meet key compliance requirements.
You'll drive cross-functional alignment by coordinating with teams across procurement, legal, compliance, and ESG to support shared sustainability goals. You will also build internal capacity through training and workshops and advise senior leadership on ESG-related risks, performance trends, and strategic opportunities.
This role is deeply collaborative and spans the entire supplier lifecycle, requiring strong engagement with internal stakeholders and external partners to embed sustainability throughout McKinsey's third-party ecosystem.
Your Growth
You are someone who thrives in a high-performance environment, bringing a growth mindset and entrepreneurial spirit to tackle meaningful challenges that have a real impact.
In return for your drive, determination, and curiosity, we'll provide the resources, mentorship, and opportunities to help you quickly broaden your expertise, grow into a well-rounded professional, and contribute to work that truly makes a difference.
When you join us, you will have:

  • Global community: With colleagues across 65+ countries and over 100 different nationalities, our firm's diversity fuels creativity and helps us come up with the best solutions. Plus, you'll have the opportunity to learn from exceptional colleagues with diverse backgrounds and experiences.
  • Exceptional benefits: In addition to a competitive salary (based on your location, experience, and skills), we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, mental health, and vision coverage for you, your spouse/partner, and children.
Your qualifications and skills
  • Bachelor's degree in sustainability, environmental science, business, governance, law, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in sustainable procurement, ESG governance, or regulatory compliance; experience in consulting or professional services preferred.
  • Deep understanding of sustainability standards and frameworks (e.g., GRI, CDP, SASB, UNGPs, SDGs, SBTi), as well as existing and emerging regulations (e.g. UK Modern Slavery Act, Norwegian Transparency Act, LKSG, CSDDD).
  • Proven experience in implementing ESG policies, managing supplier assessments, and navigating cross-functional stakeholder environments.
  • Experience working in a global context and understanding of international ESG regulations.
