Primary: 6:00am-2:30pm; Secondary: 9:00am-5:30pm

GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Trauma Coordinator uses advanced skills in quality assessment to perform comprehensive quality of care and trauma service audits to develop standards, data sources and tools. They provide education to staff and patients and ensures resolution of issues and participates in quality improvement projects as it relates to the trauma program. The Trauma Coordinator is responsible for coaching on clinical specific items and assisting the Trauma Registrars with comprehensive data collection, coding, and data entry for all trauma related admissions and maintains and provides clinical oversite of the Hospital Trauma Registry at our Level 3 Trauma Center. They act as a liaison with the Trauma Medical Director, Trauma Program Manager and others to provide reports of Registry data as approved by the Trauma Medical Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Skills Required:
1. Current RN licensure and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required. Master's degree in Nursing, or Commiserate experience is preferred.
2. Trauma experience is preferred.
3. Trauma Registry Certification (CSTR) is required within 3 years of employment and maintained.
4. Previous coding experience or certification is preferred.
5. TOPIC (Trauma Outcomes and Performance Improvement) course, Trauma Registry Course and ICD10 coding class within 1 year of hire and maintained is required.
6. AIS injury scoring class within 1st year is required, certification (CAISS) is required within 3 years of employment and maintained.
7. Must be self-motivated, have strong interpersonal, analytical skills and capable of working cooperatively in a small group working cross organizationally teams to achieve desired outcomes.
8. Demonstrated problem solving skills and investigative skills is required.
9. Expertise in use of trauma performance improvement methods and applications.
10. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong knowledge of key software applications (Microsoft, Trauma Registry products/platforms) currently used at CVPH.
