EPG Field Service Technicians for the Energy division are responsible for the diagnosis, repair, reconditioning, overhaul and maintenance of customer and company engines, power generation equipment and components. Responsibilities
- Use troubleshooting techniques to diagnose problem/ cause of failure of engine and electrical related system transfer switches, switchgear, components and parts
- Be responsible for the installation and maintenance of engine and electrical related system transfer switches, and switchgear.
- Remove/ disassemble and assemble/install components and parts.
- Clean, repair, recondition, and maintain equipment and components.
- Test, measure, and adjust engine and machine systems and components.
- Interpret technical drawings, schematics and wiring diagrams to successfully complete tasks.
- Determine reusability of parts in accordance with published Caterpillar reusability guidelines.
- Order replacement parts ensuring that orders are correct and complete.
- Prepare, inspect and operate equipment prior to delivery.
- Keep up to date with developments in tooling, technologies and systems.
- Prepare inspection and appraisal reports, complete accurate service reports and other necessary reports and forms.
- Maintain the service truck and equipment/tooling carried on the service truck.
- Complete all job responsibilities while adhering to all safety protocols.
- Ensure total customer service through direct customer interactions.
- Represent Blanchard Machinery by consistently exhibiting a professional manner, arriving on time and communicating with the customer throughout the repair process.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Preference given to candidates with 5+ years electrical power generation/electronics experience with a minimum of 3 years' experience on CAT diesel and natural gas engines and/or like competitive equipment including Low Voltage up to 480 volts.
- Preference given to candidates familiar with CAT diagnostics software (SIS) or current comparable systems.
- Valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
- Direct customer exerience is a plus.
- Flexibility to work after hours, when needed, to meet customer needs.
- Strong problem solving skills and be detailed oriented with a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to prioritize and work independently.
Working Conditions
- The physical environment requires the employee to work primarily outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
- Required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to injury and/or hazardous materials.
- Job requires standing, stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, twisting, turning, lifting.
- Physical use of a broad variety of tools and machines in order to maintain, troubleshoot and repair equipment. Must be able to use the hands to grasp hand tools and parts.
- The employee must be able to endure prolonged forward and overhead arm positions while performing mechanical operations.
- The employee must be able to lift varied weight.
- Seeing, reading, and writing to complete job responsibilities.
- Use of computer and other forms of technology to complete job responsibilities.
