The Associate Chief Nsg Officer provides administrative and financial leadership, management, and oversight to assigned area. Responsibilities include strategic planning, legal and regulatory compliance, financial management, relationship development, operations and human resources management. This position directs, manages, and coordinates the nursing activities of assigned departments or areas in the health system and/or clinics and ensures that processes and procedures in patient care comply with VCU Health System and regulatory standards. The position provides guidance and leadership in the delivery of optimum patient care. Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire:
Licensed as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment:
Current licensure as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia
Experience REQUIRED:
Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible healthcare supervision/management, financial management, and administrative/operational experience in a healthcare setting;
Demonstrated leadership and initiative in healthcare service excellence and business growth;
Demonstrated success working in a matrixed management model.
Experience PREFERRED:
Twelve (12) years of related Experience PREFERRED: in an academic medical center.
Education/training REQUIRED:
Masters Degree in Nursing.
*Experience cannot be substituted for educational requirement.

Independent action(s) required:
Budgeting, hiring, coaching, mentoring and managing.
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, and the coordination of people and resources.
Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and regulatory requirements.
Knowledge of hospital standards and benchmarks.
Verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal and negotiation skills.
Ability to develop and implement measures to maintain a stable work force.
Supervisory responsibilities (if applicable):
Directly supervises assigned department directors and other assigned staff.
Additional position requirements:
Extended hours and weekend coverage may be required.
Must be available as needed to staff on all shifts, locations, etc.
