All we need is you. The opportunity The Academic Advising Office is seeking motivated and responsible Advising Ambassadors to join our team. This position involves assisting in various administrative and student-facing tasks, helping create a welcoming environment, and providing valuable support to both students and staff. The ideal candidate will be friendly, organized, have excellent critical thinking skills and be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. This role is a great opportunity for students who want to develop their professional skills and contribute to the success of their peers. Key Responsibilities: Customer Service:
- Greet students, staff, and visitors in a friendly and professional manner as they enter or call the Academic Advising Office.
Provide Information and Answer Questions:
- General Office Information: Greet students and visitors, provide basic information about the office's services, and direct them to the appropriate resources.
- Advising Process: Explain how the academic advising process works, including appointment scheduling, required documents, and preparation for meetings with advisors.
- Program and Policy Clarifications: Help students understand degree requirements, course prerequisites, and other academic policies.
- Transition Assistance: Provide first-year students or transfer students with guidance on adjusting to the college's academic system and meeting with advisors.
Phone Calls:
- Answer incoming calls, take messages and use critical thinking to be able to transfer calls to the appropriate department or individual.
Promote Campus Resources:
- Encourage new students to take advantage of other campus resources, such as tutoring, academic workshops, or counseling services.
- Be aware of various campus resources and offices to help direct students and phone calls.
Appointment Management:
- Schedule and manage appointments for academic advisors, ensuring that all students can book meetings in a timely and efficient manner.
Student Support:
- Assist students with event-related tasks, such as the "Make a Schedule" event and other events organized by the advising office. Additional guidance will be provided when needed.
Team Collaboration:
- Attend Staff Meetings and participate in one-on-one meetings to discuss progress and tasks. Work effectively as part of a team to ensure smooth operation of the office.
Multitasking:
- Demonstrate the ability to handle multiple tasks at once, balancing customer service, scheduling, and administrative duties.
Office Maintenance:
- Maintain a clean and organized office space. Participate in daily and weekly office cleaning schedules
Bulletin Board and Event Preparation:
- Make copies of upcoming events and ensure the front bulletin board is up to date with relevant information.
- Special Projects: Take on additional tasks and projects assigned by the office manager or supervising staff to support office operations and student engagement.
Qualifications:
- Current enrollment in classes as part of a SNHU degree program
- Work study part of financial aid package
- Students with work study may be prioritized
- Students must maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Excellent critical thinking skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities effectively.
- Friendly, professional demeanor with a passion for helping others.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in basic office software and technology.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining an organized and clean office environment.
Additional Information:
- This is a part-time position with flexible hours for students with work study funds.
- The Student Ambassador will report directly to the office manager, Taylor Perry, and will receive guidance and training throughout their employment.
- Ambassadors are also expected to perform other duties as assigned by the manager to meet the operational needs of the department.
- Hours: 5-20 hours/week
- Wage: $12.50
