Job Purpose
Responsibilities include oversight of all Damage Prevention activities including but not limited to: daily supervision of Locate & Mark personnel, investigating damages and determining root cause, overseeing the Ticket Risk Assessment/DP Advisor program, working closely with QA/QC personnel, Construction personnel, Field Operations personnel, Stakeholder Engagement personnel, Contract Oversight, Gas Emergency First Responders, Billing & Collections personnel, PRG investigation personnel, Gas Dispatchers, etc., in a cost effective manner all in an effort to reduce and minimize the number of Excavation Damages to National Grid's buried infrastructure.
Key Accountabilities

- Coordinate with other Company Departments necessary to support Damage Prevention activities.
- Supervise the daily locate and mark activities of contactors locating National Grid gas facilities.
- Develop action plans that address continuous improvement in damage prevention and contractor field performance.
- Assure that high standards of safety, quality, and environmental compliance are met and maintained at the work sites.
- Assure compliance with all Federal, State, Local and Company safety and environmental guidelines. laws and regulations.
- Support Damage Prevention initiates and familiar with Gas Construction Procedures and required Operator Qualifications (OQs)
- Systematically perform field audits to ensure accuracy and completeness while following NYS Code Rule 753 - The Protection of Underground Facilities.
- Monitor contractor crew activities and respond to 1st, 2nd and 3rd party damage investigations and prepare timely damage investigation reports.
- Provide Quality Assurance that work being performed is per the contract specifications and Company standards.

- Review engineering drawings, technical specifications, survey site locations for constructability considerations. Attend project meetings when necessary.
- Verify the accuracy of contractor invoicing.
- Adhere to daily Operating Procedures.
- Participate in New York 811 Regional Partner meetings to represent the Company.
- Interface with local Public Service Commission staff.
- Work with the DP Advisor staff on visiting the riskiest 811 tickets
- Work with the Ticket Risk Assessment company
- Act as the first point of contact for multiple internal stakeholders and outside agencies in order to provide support and ensure National Grid deliver against service level agreement.
- Oversee the operational workload of team to ensure allocated resources are fully utilized in order to deliver against agreed upon work plan and execute work activities within planned unit and budget cost.
- Ensure supervised teams comply with safety standards, policies and processes in order to ensure a safe working environment and minimize risk for all staff.
- Execute all work tasks in compliance with all Company, Federal and State policy and regulatory requirements.
- Build good working relationships with internal & external customers and manage the day-to-day relationship with them in order to understand their requirements and deliver appropriate solutions within National Grid policies and processes.
Qualifications

- 2-year degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, civil engineering, construction management or equivalent.
- Must have expert knowledge in underground facility locating, gas construction and T&D construction.
- Technically proficient within subject matter and experience of leading a team involved in field operations activities is preferred.
- Strong verbal and communication skills including the ability to work in a team atmosphere.
- Ability to read and interpret construction prints, drawings, including GIS prints, and work orders.
- Demonstrated strong commitment to worker safety.
- Promotes team effectiveness by soliciting input from team members, communicating expectations of the team and delegating responsibilities while providing support and structure.
- Maintain a non-restricted driver's license.

- Must have demonstrated or possess the skills to build effective, respectful, working relationships.
- Must have or possess the ability to develop knowledge and understanding of National Grid's policies and processes and how to apply them effectively.
- Knowledge of NYS Code Rule 753, Protection of Underground Facilities.
Downstate NY Salary: $105,000 - $123,000 a year Please be advised that due to the nature of this position, incumbents are subject to federal Drug & Alcohol safety regulations governing US Department of Transportation ("DOT") covered positions, including the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and Pipeline Hazardous Material Safety Administration (PHMSA). As such, the Company's testing programs and policies regarding the use of federally prohibited drugs or alcohol, for recreational or medical purposes, will remain in effect for these safety-sensitive, DOT covered positions.
