Description
SUMMARY The Labor Relations Specialist assists the Human Resource Senior Manager in the day-to-day HR functions of a multi-site, multi-jurisdictional, and multi-union manufacturing organization. This role interacts with internal stakeholders to determine both immediate and long-term needs and then acts to fill those needs in partnership with the relevant HR functional areas. This role will support union compliance efforts ensuring all contractual obligations within the plants are met and establishing positive working relationships with internal and external members of affiliated organized labor groups. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure fair and consistent application of the rules and regulations in multiple Collective Bargaining Agreements and the Kraft Group Employee Handbook, including attendance policy monitoring, seniority/line of progression for overtime and promotions, and disciplinary action through collaboration with site leadership and union representatives.
- Compile and disseminate required labor reports including bi-weekly dues reporting, monthly health and welfare/pension remittance, quarterly safety bonus rosters, bi-annual employee information requests, and year-end supplemental payouts as well as other reports required by regulatory bodies.
- Participate in preparations for any union grievance proceedings and unemployment claims to include initial responses and appeals.
- Assist in implementing internal talent acquisition procedures primarily the tracking and ranking of internal bids and communication to employees on the results of internal movement.
- Maintain current knowledge and application of local and federal labor laws for all jurisdictions in which the company operates and assist the Human Resource Senior Manager in ensuring compliance.
- Provide administrative support to the Human Resource Senior Manager including responding to mailed requests, document filing, creation of job descriptions, basic data analysis, and employee outreach on routine matters.
- Ensure compliance with all training initiatives through direct intervention with employees and managers.
- Collaborate with functional areas within HR to provide answers to employee questions and requests. The functional areas will include but not limited to: shared services (AskHR), benefits, employee relations, HRIS, learning and development, payroll, and recruiting.
- Assist in implementing internal talent acquisition procedures primarily the tracking and ranking of internal bids and communication to employees on the results of internal movement.
- Audit data integrity through reporting, HR Dashboard and HRIS systems. Actively review transactions with hiring managers and unit leaders to ensure accuracy and timeliness of changes. Pro-actively review data for accuracy and patterns that require action.
- Travel to multiple site locations as needed (up to 10% of time).
- Special projects and assignments as business dictates.
- Responsible for the maintenance, creation and control of all personally identifiable information or any other information protected by any Confidentiality or Privacy Standards or Company Policies that you have access or knowledge of, including but not limited to any state or federal regulations including HIPAA.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, business management, psychology, communications, or related field required
- 0-3 years of experience in a Human Resources Specialist or Generalist role, or related position
- Experience in a union environment preferred
- Experience in research and/or data analytics preferred
- Knowledge of State and Federal laws, rules and regulations pertaining to labor, benefits, and compensation a plus
- Ability to influence others to achieve results
- Ability to think critically and solve problems
- High degree of flexibility, adaptability, and general ability to work within a constantly changing environment
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
- Must have attention to detail and focused concentration.
- Must be able to learn new tasks and complete tasks independently.
- Must be able to make timely decisions in the context of a workflow.
- Must possess strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task and responsiveness.
- Must be able to adhere to process protocol and must be able to apply established protocols in a timely manner.

- The work environment is a typical office setting with some exposure to a manufacturing environment
- The manufacturing environment is frequently loud (+80dB)
- Occasionally exposed to loud, moving mechanical equipment; vapors or corrosive chemicals; hot and cold; blood borne pathogens; and risk of electrical shock.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- HR Certification preferred (SHRM-CP or PHR)
