Responsibilities

Job Summary:
The Systems Engineer III will support engineering activities across the full systems engineering lifecycle for space-related programs. This role requires expertise in complex systems design, integration, and risk management with a strong preference for experience in System of Systems (SoS) engineering within the space industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead systems engineering efforts for space-related systems and subsystems.

  • Develop and maintain system architectures, requirements, and interface control documents (ICDs).

  • Apply Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles and tools.

  • Perform system integration and verification/validation (V&V) activities.

  • Manage risk identification, assessment, and mitigation strategies.

  • Integrate heterogeneous systems and manage SoS interdependencies.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software, hardware, and operations.

  • Conduct technical briefings and present engineering solutions to stakeholders.

  • Support mission assurance and ensure compliance with relevant space industry standards.


Qualifications

  • BS 5-7 Years, MS 3-5, PhD 0-2
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Systems, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

  • 5-7 years of systems engineering experience with complex systems (preferably in the space industry).

  • Experience across the full systems engineering lifecycle.

  • Proficient in MBSE methodologies and tools.

  • Strong knowledge of risk management processes and frameworks (e.g., ISO 31000).

  • Familiarity with SoS engineering concepts, integration, and emergent behavior analysis.

  • Experience in modeling and simulation for system performance evaluation.

  • Understanding of space systems including spacecraft, launch vehicles, ground systems, and communication networks.

  • Proficient with tools such as Microsoft Project, Jira, and configuration management platforms.

  • Possess and Maintain TS/SCI

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Aerospace, Systems, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

  • INCOSE CSEP, PMP, or other relevant certifications.

  • Familiarity with NASA, MIL-STD, and ISO space system standards.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proven leadership and ability to guide technical teams.

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.

This is the projected compensation range for this position. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
