JOB SUMMARY The Senior Accountantis a key contributor to the Saint Louis University finance team. This position is responsible for accurate, timely, consistent financial information, primarily accounts receivable, and other revenue sources for the University. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintains and strengthens internal controls over related financial reporting Ensures Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) compliance as it relates to other sources of revenue and related accounts receivable Provides oversight of accounts receivable and other revenue processes and procedures ensuring effective integration of financial transactions Review agreements entered into by the University to ensure appropriate accounting under Generally Accepted Accounting Principles Reconciles various general ledger accounts, including collaboration with various University departments to prepare consolidated reconciliations Reviews all invoices completed in Workday for completeness and accuracy Reviews and follows-up on outstanding accounts receivable Calculates quarterly allowances Prepares quarterly analysis of revenue and receivables for senior leadership Trains departments on the customer accounts functionality in Workday Assists in special projects as requested and communicate status of projects Performs other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Strong technical knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Strong knowledge of internal controls over financial reporting Understanding of business processes Excellent communication skills with all levels of the organization Consistently demonstrates and encourages a commitment to quality Advanced MS Word and Excel software skills Strong interpersonal and organizational skills Ability to maintain confidentiality Ability to identify risks, and use data to prepare accurate financial reports Ability to accomplish results, meet objectives and effectively prioritize initiatives amid competing priorities within agreed upon timeline Ability to recognize areas of process improvement and assist in implementing new processes and procedures
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Masters degree in accounting or a closely related field Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Previous experience using Workday as a financial system
