CBA Aircraft Mechanic (I Level Avionics) - T-45 Program - NAS Meridian, MS

Basic Function Summary:

Performs maintenance to include inspection, operational test, troubleshooting, repair, and modification of electrical, avionics, or electronic systems. Applies advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems and to provide technical assistance, guidance, and instruction to other employees as needed.

Possess a high degree of expertise in electronic, electrical, and avionics systems. Demonstrates in-depth knowledge and use of applicable maintenance/technical manuals and publications, and special tools and test equipment. Must be familiar with operational capabilities, limitations of electronic, electrical, and avionics systems. Must be customer-oriented.

Possess a working knowledge of Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP) OPNAVINST 4790.2, and other applicable Navy Instructions, Maintenance Instructions, Maintenance Manuals, Illustrated Parts Breakdown, Technical Directives, Manufacture manuals, and Company Instructions.

Essential Duties and Accountabilities:

Performs the troubleshooting, repair, and rewiring of complex electronic, avionics, and electrical systems and subsystems discrepancies and modifications of systems used in aircraft. Coordinates with the customer, the OEM, technical representatives, management, and work centers to resolve questions concerning support equipment used in support of electrical or electronic equipment used in aircraft systems for modifications and/or repairs, provide technical assistance, guidance and instruction as required.

Estimates and accesses damage of avionics/electrical components/systems as related to crash and mishap damaged aircraft to include repair and/or replacement, labor cost, replacement parts, components, and materials. Assists in P&E report preparation. Maintain cleanliness of the work center and around your assigned work area of Responsibility for adhering to all applicable Foreign Object Damage (FOD) prevention rules and regulations. Responsible for adhering to Company Tool Control Program.

Documents work accomplished on Maintenance Action Form (MAF) or NALCOMIS System.

Qualification Standards:

Must have three (3) years experience in intermediate level avionics maintenance, performing maintenance on avionics and/or electrical systems components including avionics corrosion detection, treatment, and prevention, utilizing tools, various test equipment, blueprints, drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and normal safety requirements along with familiarity of Lock Out-Tag Out (LOTO) procedures as pertaining to felicities provided energy sources. Consolidated Automated Support Equipment (CASS) operator /maintainer preferred.

Satisfactory completion of U.S. Armed Forces avionics/electronics school or other schools with equivalent curriculum or five (5) years of on-the-job training and/or experience required. Must be able to meet any Government/Company licensing/qualification requirements for the position. Must be able to obtain the level of security clearance required by the Government. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English. Must be able to obtain a CAC card within 6 months of start date.

Physical Demands and Environment Conditions:

This classification activity is usually accomplished in a hangar/shop/flight line environment and as such requires the scope of physical movements and postures normally associated with these activities. May be required to lift objects whose weight normally will not exceed 50 pounds. Special vision abilities required to perform this job are close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.

The diversity of work conditions may range from an environment where there is little or no physical discomfort, to an environment where inclement weather may subject individuals to severe changes of temperature, wind, rain, etc. May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles. May be exposed to electrical shock hazards.
