The NYU Health Sciences Library (NYUHSL) invites applicants for the position of Data Services Librarian, a faculty appointment in the NYU Grossman School of Medicine at the Library Associate level. We are seeking an early career librarian with curiosity and excitement for learning new data and technology-related skills. The Data Services Librarian will report to the Head of Data Services and Research Impact. This position will play a critical role in advancing student and workforce development by offering training and resources in research data management and related topics. The successful candidate will have a strong interest in providing online and asynchronous education, be comfortable with speaking in front of large groups, and demonstrate enthusiasm for collaboration with diverse stakeholders across a large, academic healthcare organization.

Responsibilities:



  • Develop, teach, and provide consultations on research data management, REDCap, and other data-related topics;
  • Lead or contribute to the development of novel library services, consultations, and educational offerings related to use of artificial intelligence (AI);
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies, tools, and best practices for research, and guide the library and its users in their applications;
  • Provide support for other Data Services efforts;
  • Serve on library teams, committees, and/or task forces as appropriate; and
  • Serve NYU Langone Health committees, and/or task forces as appropriate.


Compensation and Benefits

The NYU Grossman School of Medicine offers faculty a competitive compensation and benefits package covering health insurance, retirement benefits, time off, tuition benefits, wellness programs, and more. NYU Health Sciences Library provides mentoring and support for research, scholarship and publication as part of our commitment to ongoing faculty professional development. NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York State Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for this role is $78,000 to $85,000 annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.

Interested candidates from outside the New York City area are encouraged to apply. On-site work is required, but flexible scheduling is negotiable.

Required Qualifications:



  • Master's degree in library/information science or a related health or information field;
  • Experience with public speaking and delivery of instruction to adult learners;
  • Interest in acquiring and teaching new skills, particularly around technology and data;
  • Collaborative mindset for working with librarian colleagues and stakeholders outside the library;
  • Curiosity to explore emerging trends and technologies;
  • Proficiency in project management, including planning and coordination, to drive projects to completion; and
  • Strong service orientation with excellent oral and written interpersonal communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience with REDCap or other research data collection tools;
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis programs such as R or Python;
  • Understanding of pedagogical practices, including asynchronous instructional design;
  • Familiarity with generative AI and best practices for end users;
  • Understanding of the clinical research data management lifecycle and associated best practices, including compliance with regulatory and funder requirements; and
  • Understanding of data literacy and ability to explain technical topics to library users.
