The Engineer IV, Software Development is a visionary leader and hands-on builder who tackles the toughest, most complex technical challenges as the company modernizes and scales IT platforms and services to support our nationwide business. Requires strong technical judgment, curiosity, and the skills to influence and inform solutions for business-critical concerns. Provide architectural guidance and detailed technical direction while nurturing a culture of excellence and continuous delivery. The Engineer IV will be a trusted technical advisor across leaderships levels by bringing clarity to complexity and demonstrating smart, innovative ways to solve problems.



Responsibilities

    Advise and inform technical and business leadership by having deep knowledge within an organizational area of ownership and broadly across organizational concerns
  • Serve as a technical hands-on leader on complex, cross-functional projects decomposing complex problems into simple, straight-forward, extensible solutions
  • Fully and completely understand system inter-dependencies, limitations, and opportunities
  • Bring expert knowledge in system performance and scalability, enterprise architecture, and software engineering best practices
  • Balance technical leadership and expertise, with strong business judgment, to inform technology decisions and partner closely with leadership to align technology solutions with business opportunities
  • Provide technical guidance to multiple teams to increase their productivity and effectiveness by sharing deep knowledge and leveraging experience
  • Act as a mentor to software engineers, sharing deep technical expertise and helping to guide career development
  • Foster a culture of high-quality continuous delivery, operational excellence, and technical innovation


Qualifications

  • Education Level: Bachelor's Degree ; Major: Computer Science, Computer Engineering
  • Experience in lieu of required education is acceptable
  • 10+ years of professional software development experience (excluding internships)
  • In-depth knowledge of multiple software development languages, frameworks, and tools
  • Strong knowledge of cloud technologies, micro services, object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms, relational databases, and non-relational databases
  • Demonstrated ability to architect, build, debug, secure, scale, and operate large-scale software systems
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to inform the technology roadmap
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills
