Overview

Reporting to the Vice President of Strategic Operations the Director of Docking Operations at Electric Boat will be responsible for providing quality leadership, safe execution and the mission readiness to support production and delivery schedule of Virginia and Columbia Class submarines to the U.S Navy. In this new highly critical role the selected candidate must establish and execute processes and procedures that consistently enables operational excellence in Safety, Quality and to meet Cost Goals. The selected candidate will be responsible for budgeting, training and qualification of personnel to perform maintenance and maintain certification of Dry-docks, Submarine launch platforms and Ocean transport barges to provide the following critical deliverables for the company. The successful candidate in this role must be able to partner with senior leaders across operations, facilities, planning and logistics. Strong leadership skills, team building and the ability to partner with internal and external stakeholders is a must.

Addionally the selected candidate will be responsible for the following:

    Provides Docking and Launching operations at Groton Ship Yard for VIRGINIA and COLUMBIA Class submarines. These operations consist of VIRGINIA Class Launching from Graving Dock 3, Post Shake down Availabilities and Engineered Overhaul maintenance of 688 class submarines in Graving Docks 1 and 2.
  • Responsible for performance of preventative and corrective maintenance of the Graving Docks, ARDM-4, Holland, Sea Shuttle and Columbia launch platform Atlas in accordance with Navy military standards and American Bureau of Ship Building standards.
  • Manages safe operations and crew certification of ocean transport barges Sea Shuttle and Holland.
  • Provide manning capability to ensure on time delivery of new construction submarine components and modules to meet company goals.
  • Manages operations, maintenance and certification of a Government Owned Contractor Operated Floating Dry-dock SHIPPINGPORT (ARDM-4) at SUBASE.


Qualifications

Requirements:

  • At least 10 years of Dry docking experience in a military or manufcaturing environment
  • Candidate must have at least 8 years of progressive people leadership roles
  • At least 5 years of experience in managing preventative maintenance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience in water front / at sea operations
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Strong communication skill in collaborating with employees and government officials at all levels of an organization
  • Navy Command and Post Command experience
  • Submarine at sea experience
