Job Summary

Maintain college-wide counseling service for students that promotes a positive impact on student success by providing intakes, short-term individual counseling, and referrals to community agencies for students with long-term needs. Participate in outreach in conjunction with the Wellness Services department.

This is a Safety Sensitive position pursuant to Oklahoma StatuteOKLA.STAT. tit. 63, * 427.8 (2020).


Essential Duties

Perform intakes, short term counseling and make referrals to appropriate community agencies.

Provide pertinent presentations and educational programs that support student success to students, faculty and staff.

Consult with faculty, staff and administration on student mental health concerns and provide outreach as needed/requested.

Support programming of Wellness Services department such as Fresh Check Day, grant initiatives and other outreach activities.

Serve on college wide CARE/BIT team as consultant on an as needed/requested basis.

Provide support to campus community in the aftermath of critical incidents in coordination with Director of Wellness Services and TCC Administration.

Provide Title IX victim support and referral to community agencies.


Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in Educational Psychology, Counseling, or related field.

Licensed Professional Counselor certification.

Five years of experience as a licensed professional. Must be able to make critical decisions regarding student care as this role tends to work independently due to the nature of the role.

One year of experience in an educational setting, with college-aged individuals, adolescents, or a comparable population to that of TCC.

Ability to interact effectively with others, including traditional and nontraditional students and the community.

Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Strong organizational skills with attention to detail, especially as it relates to the documentation necessary for client care.

Comfortability with public speaking and on-campus outreach activities.

Ability to make sound decisions in both crisis and non-crisis situations with minimal supervision.


Preferred Qualifications

Spanish proficiency preferred.

Training or certification in the provision of telebehavioral health/remote counseling services.
