PURPOSE In the plant, the purpose of a Packaging Manager is to effectively plan, coordinate, manage, and control all packaging operations, including packaging equipment, maintenance and cleaning. This role interfaces between other departments such as quality, maintenance, warehouse, processing, etc. Responsibilities include controlling production cost and assuring the highest level of product quality and safety. The Packaging Manager also has the responsibility of meeting and maintaining established safety, sanitation and environmental regulations. PRINCIPAL DUTIES
GENERAL DESCRIPTION Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Packaging Manager directs, manages and coordinates the daily activities of approximately 60 people, who include packaging professionals and engineers, across a 3 shift, 6 day packaging operation at the Daisy Brand plant. A highly visible leadership position within a fast-paced environment, the primary focus is to efficiently fill and package products across 6 packaging lines, including rigid, film and foil packaging, with all products meeting the desired parameters set by Daisy Brand requirements and customer expectations. The Packaging Manager is required to lead the packaging department per Daisy Brand requirements. The Packaging Manager has the authority to take immediate corrective actions when dealing with Food Safety and Food Quality issues and is required to report these issues to his/her immediate supervisor and/or Quality Manager for further action if required. The Plant Manager or an assigned qualified Packaging Representative will fill in for the Packaging Manager in their absence. QUALIFICATIONS
