Minimum Qualifications
Requires at least a high school diploma or equivalent. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications
At least one (1) year Security Guard experience. Georgia State Driver's License
Position Summary
The role of a Security Guard involves monitoring the building and its surroundings, ensuring the safety and welfare of students, and reporting any observations or incidents that could affect the overall well-being of students, staff, and visitors.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
* Must possess the ability to read, write and understand written and/or oral instructions.
* Ability to interact professionally and respectfully with the public and maintain composure under emotionally stressful situations, such as issuing parking citations.
* Ability to exercise independent and sound judgment when responding to security or parking issues.
Physical Demands
* Capable of walking extensively throughout the facility and its surrounding areas, walk upstairs, climb ladders, and maneuver uneven surfaces.
* Ability to walk and work outdoors in intense hot or cold conditions.
* Proficient in verbal and written communication through telephone, email, or face-to-face interactions
* Able to hear sounds that may necessitate an immediate response, such as a distress call.
* Capable of lifting and maneuvering items weighing up to 20 pounds.
* Competent in safely operating vehicles registered in the state of Georgia and a security cart.

Observation, Reporting and Guest Assistance
* Monitors UHC grounds and building to ensure a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
* Issues parking citations as appropriate and maintain accurate records.
* Assists the public by giving directions and answering questions.
* Assists in helping make UHC a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff by safeguarding the building.
* Reports safety and security breaches to manager via radio.
* Interacts with UGA Police and Parking Services.
* Observes and questions unusual activity or suspicious persons and takes appropriate action.
* Examines doors and windows to determine if secured; Secures locks and doors as required.
* Reports all life safety issues, such as fire and trip hazards, and takes immediate action to resolve.
* Assists with monitoring fire, tornado, bomb, and mass casualty drills.
* Monitors security during special functions.
