Assist in the manufacture of quality products (per customer standards) as determined by the production schedule and shift supervisor. To gain understanding of the technical knowledge required in the manufacturing process, and continuously improve skills and productivity through teamwork. Perform housekeeping duties as needed to maintain a safe and orderly work environment. Shift: 4-3 Nights (6p-6a) Principle Accountabilities: * Oversee shift personnel in a manner that promotes continuous improvement and co-worker engagement. * Ensure safety and environmental commitment and compliance. * Support daily production requirements and changeover needs. * Respond to any equipment stoppages/line problems and be available for team members. * Communicate issues to supervisor. * Assure 5S, and standardized work compliance and development. * Assure co-worker growth and team rotation, cross train team members. * Assist supervisor with line staff assignments. * Provide technical training and process support. * Assist supervisor on product quality decisions and ensure quality production. * Ensure the department is complying with plant policies and procedures, as well as safety requirements including our Life Saving Rules. * Will examine products for fine defects and perform quality testing and maintaining appropriate records. * Perform routine LPA (layered process audits) to ensure compliance to established SOC's * Drive efforts to reduce waste. * Assist in preventative maintenance of machines and auxiliary equipment. Responsible for ensuring work is completed according to standard and that work area and equipment is kept clean and in good working order (5S) Knowledge & Experience: * Experience in the Gravure Printing / Adhesive Lamination / Pouch making processes. * Must have experience in reading production specifications and/or blueprints. * Good mechanical and technical aptitude a plus Education & Certifications: * High school diploma or GED, Associate Degree and /or industrial certification preferred Skills/Abilities * Must have strong communication skills * Must have proven leadership abilities * Must have good computer skills * Ability to work in a team environment and provide direction and guidance to team members. * Must have the aptitude to follow verbal and written directions * Must have strong aptitude in math. * Must be able to use measurement tools and measure to the nearest millimeter. * Analytical skills to help identify root-cause of defects and recommend processing adjustments to eliminate defect. Physical Demands * Physically able to lift 50 lbs * Standing up to 12 hours per day on a rotating day or evening shift, up to 5 days per week * Occasional twisting, turning, or bending to move items up to 50 lbs. * Alert state of mind to avoid safety hazards, Able to make fast reaction to visual/sound signal * Ability to read/see up to a millimeter, able to manipulate objects by hand * Able to read; must be able to read English text, blueprints. Write, speak and understand English directions/instructions - bi-lingual a plus * Writing skills required: Must be able to communicate in writing with all levels of the organization in English Work Environment * Job is performed near moving mechanical parts and occasionally in high, precarious places. This position requires the use of eye protection, hair net, and hearing protection in designated areas. When handling a sharp object or tool a cut glove must be worn per safety requirements. Other required PPE is task specific. GMP procedures are observed in all areas of the plant.
