The Division for Student Affairs (
DSA) interacts with students throughout all phases of the student lifecycle. DSA's integrated approach is to provide a cohesive student experience built upon three core values: genuine collaboration, a comprehensive approach to problem-solving, and putting students at the center of the work.
The Assistant Director, Residential Education Case Management position will be responsible for coordinating and delivering support for undergraduate students experiencing emotional or material challenges that negatively impact their well-being and ability to achieve academic success. The Assistant Director for Residential Education Case Management will identify emerging concerns, trends, and issues for current students and adjust outreach and support based on student history and needs. They will coordinate services and communication with the Residential Education and the
CARE team.
Specific Duties:
- Primary point of contact for any CARE referrals routed to the Residential Education team.
- Manage and triage a caseload of 400 (+) referrals per semester including coordinating initial student outreach and intervention with Residential Education team
- Ensure that there is proper documentation of case management services.
- Provide one-on-one non-clinical counseling and guidance to students experiencing social, behavioral, or academic challenges.
- Guide students through challenges to help them feel confident in their choices to remain at the university, contributing to overall university retention goals
- Build and maintain networks across the university in order to connect students to a range of supportive resources including academic advising, counseling, financial aid, health care, residential education staff, student success and Title IX.
- Identify emerging concerns, trends, and issues for current students and adjust CARE outreach based on student history and overarching campus culture shifts. This will also include compiling and reviewing data for the Residential Education team including compiling monthly, semester, and annual reports to assess effectiveness, campus outreach, and opportunities for improvement of outreach and promotion of the case management team within Residential Education.
- Serve as a part of the University's Administrator on Call rotation as a Senior Administrator on Call to provide consultation and support during emerging concerns and issues that may arise. Consult with Administrator-on-call for emerging issues identified through the CARE Team in the absence of the relevant Assistant Director of Residential Education.
- Primary system administrator of Maxient for Residential Education team including modifying user and group permissions based on staff transitions, conducting annual audit of users to ensure privacy is maintained, ensuring that Maxient system is up to date and that it is being used to the fullest potential
- Serve as a member of the departmental leadership team and assist in the development of policies, priorities, and decision-making for the achievement of departmental goals and objectives.
- Provide guidance and congruence for front line staff around University, Division for Student Affairs, and departmental priorities, from the integration into policies, procedures, outcomes, and projects.
- Oversee functional area budget.
- Advise and develop university behavior policy and role model community standards in conjunction with campus partners.
- Provide response and support to families, students, and guests with elevated concerns about their residential experiences. Resolve issues at point of need, appropriately communicate and share to others including those who support its resolution and those impacted.
- Serve as the lead Residential Education contributor on the Behavioral Intervention team.
- Motivate, direct, supervise, and evaluate 1-2 Residential Education Case Managers. Provide counsel and advice for outreach for Residential Education team staff.
- Create and facilitate training for the Residential Education staff in partnership with Student Outreach and Support.
- Provide advising support for 1-3 student organizations
Perform other duties as assigned including support for Division for Student Affairs wide projects and initiatives including new student orientation, student success initiatives, and university events/traditions, as well as participating in and supporting special events and activities and representing unit/division at university-wide events. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position. |
Minimum Qualifications: |
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 6 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study plus 4 years of relevant professional experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. |

This is a live-on position and requires you to reside in campus housing as a condition of employment. |
Preferred Qualifications: |
- Demonstrated skill and/or experience in case management and/or crisis management is strongly recommended.
- Previous experience with managing and/or supervising full-time staff.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff, and families
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse constituencies
- Evidence of organizational understanding and an ability to work collaboratively
- Experience in directing, organizing, and prioritizing workload to meet required deadlines and department objectives is desired
- Skill in preparing comprehensive and in-depth analysis of complex, sensitive, and multifaceted issues, particularly under tight time constraints is preferred
- Superior written and verbal communication skills to effectively and professionally communicate using tact and diplomacy with internal and external campus community including international visitors
