Responsibilities
Sabre Systems is seeking a highly technical and strategic Executive Director of IT to lead and evolve our enterprise-wide technology operations in support of mission-critical federal government programs. This role requires a hands-on leader with deep expertise in IT infrastructure, enterprise systems, and cloud architecture-combined with the business acumen to align technology initiatives with Sabre's long-term goals. The Executive Director will drive modernization, optimize service delivery, and oversee compliance and cybersecurity efforts across a multi-site, hybrid environment. This individual will serve as the highest authority for IT within the company and play a key role in shaping Sabre's digital future. Location: Hybrid - Candidate must be within commuting distance to Sabre Systems' Lexington Park, MD office, with occasional travel to other Sabre locations as needed. Key Responsibilities: Strategic IT Leadership
- Develop and execute a multi-year IT strategy that supports business growth, operational efficiency, and federal compliance requirements.
- Serve as the senior IT advisor to Sabre's executive leadership team.
- Lead digital transformation initiatives focused on infrastructure modernization, cloud enablement, automation, and system integration.
Infrastructure, Systems, and Application Management
- Oversee and support all enterprise systems and infrastructure including servers, desktop computers, laptops, peripherals, wireless networks, SANs (including NetApp), LANs, WANs, and cloud-based environments.
- Provide leadership and direction for both infrastructure support personnel and software developers.
- Administer and support Microsoft environments (Windows Server 2022)
- Guide the installation, configuration, and maintenance of software applications, database platforms, and communication systems.
- Ensure optimal performance, availability, and scalability of IT systems across remote and on-site locations.
Policy, Procedures & Governance
- Lead the development, documentation, and enforcement of IT policies and procedures that support secure and compliant operations.
- Maintain governance frameworks aligned with ISO processes and government requirements.
- Collaborate across departments to establish clear technology standards and controls.
Compliance, Security & Risk Management
- Partner with the Director of IT Compliance to ensure adherence to CMMC, NIST 800-171, DFARS, and other federal standards.
- Oversee network and system security, disaster recovery planning, and audit preparedness.
- Implement risk management practices aligned with industry best practices and federal expectations.
Team Leadership & Development
- Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing IT team including systems engineers, network administrators, support staff, and application developers.
- Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, and technical excellence.
IT Operations & Service Delivery
- Lead enterprise service delivery including end-user support, systems administration, and IT service management.
- Monitor and optimize operations for both on-premises and cloud-based infrastructure, including Microsoft Azure.
- Manage enterprise tools such as Microsoft 365 GCC High, Exchange Online, Teams, Intune, SCCM, and NetApp SAN solutions.
Budgeting & Vendor Management
- Oversee IT budgeting, procurement, and financial forecasting.
- Manage vendor and partner relationships, contract negotiations, and service level agreements for technology products and services.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (Master's preferred).
- 10+ years of progressive IT management experience, including 3+ years in a senior leadership capacity.
- Strong expertise in Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365 (GCC High), VMware, enterprise networking, and cybersecurity.
- Proven experience with Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) in a federal or regulated environment.
- Track record of leading multi-site IT operations and transformation initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute IT roadmaps focused on innovation, cybersecurity, compliance, and scalability.
- Hands-on experience with hybrid cloud infrastructure, backups, VDI environments, and secure remote access.
Security Clearance Requirement:
- Must be a U.S. citizen and hold an active DoD Secret clearance or higher
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience managing IT infrastructure and compliance for government contractors.
- Deep understanding of CMMC requirements, including GCC High migration and NIST 800-171 control implementation.
- Familiarity with FedRAMP, DFARS, and Zero Trust (ZT) security architecture.
- Experience leading or participating in security audits, including internal assessments or serving as an external auditor for cybersecurity compliance frameworks
- Proven experience in evaluating emerging technologies such as AI, automation, and cloud solutions to drive innovation, improve processes, and support strategic initiatives
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, PMP, ITIL v4, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or VMware Certified Professional (VCP)

Compensation
Senior Level: At Sabre Systems, LLC, compensation is based on factors such as location, qualifications, experience, and contract-specific requirements. The general salary range for this position is $70,000-$200,000; however, final compensation will be determined by individual qualifications and applicable contract terms.
