JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Configuration Management Specialist

Position Summary:

The Service Asset and Configuration Management (SACM) section provides operational support to enhance the organization's IT capabilities and readiness. This section is responsible for managing IT assets and configuration items across both Continental U.S. (CONUS) and Outside Continental U.S. (OCONUS) locations.

SACM ensures that hardware, software, virtual assets, and other configuration items are tracked and managed throughout their lifecycle. This includes maintaining accurate records of their relationships, dependencies, and related change requests. All operational changes are documented and updated in the Configuration Management Database (CMDB).

Clearance Eligibility: Active DoD - Secret

Salary: The salary offered will depend on education, certifications, length and relevance of work history, and professional experience.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reviews, reconciles, and conducts comprehensive data analysis of large volumes of data to assess findings/discrepancies and develop data mitigation strategies.
  • Manages and tracks all customer service assets and configuration items throughout their lifecycle.
  • Prepares lifecycle and status reports and supports verification and audit activities.
  • Conducts physical configuration audits in coordination with government personnel for major U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) sites to support establishing and maintaining the configuration baseline.
  • Performs impact analysis of proposed changes based on system dependencies.
  • Performs lifecycle/product bulletin research of hardware and software products to support proper sustainment and refresh/replacement planning for systems near or at end-of-life.
  • Applies knowledge of the above-named systems and concepts to provide IT Asset Management (ITAM)/Configuration Management (CM) support under Customer SACM standard operating procedures.
  • Create and manage requests to update Remedy system objects.

Education and Certification Requirements:

  • IAT II (CCNA Security, CYSA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+CE, CND, SSCP)
  • Possess IT Infrastructure Library Foundations certification (ITILv3)

Background and Experience:

  • 2-3 years of experience providing ITAM/CM support.
  • Demonstrates familiarity with IT Service Management (ITSM) concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Possesses a mid-level understanding of Microsoft (MS) Excel and MS Access.

Required Technical Skills:

  • Completed Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) Atrium CMDB training 8.0 or higher.
  • Possesses mid-level knowledge of the BMC Remedy ITSM suite and associated consoles (e.g., Software Asset Management, Technical Refresh, Change Management, Incident Management, Release Management, Service Request).
  • 4-6 years of experience providing ITAM/CM support.
  • Mid-level knowledge of BMC Internal Reporting Tool (BIRT) and BMC Analytics; knowledge of Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology (SMART) reporting is preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • General office environment. Work is generally sedentary but may require movement about the office for up to 10% of the time. The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.
  • Contractor site with 0-10% travel possible.
  • Possible off-hours work to support releases and outages.
  • Occasional movement of small articles up to 10lbs.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • Continuously operates a computer and other office productivity equipment.
  • Occasionally required to move self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments, including tight and confined spaces.
  • Continually required to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.
  • Continually utilize visual acuity to operate equipment, read technical information, and/or use a keyboard.
