The University of Cincinnati Department of Athletics competes at the highest level of intercollegiate athletics with the vision to reach Next Level Success for all 18 varsity teams and more than 450 student-athletes. The Bearcats have a proud athletics history, winning eight national championships and 118 conference titles. The Cincinnati men's basketball team is among the 15 winningest programs all-time, while the football team became the first non-Power Five program to compete in the College Football Playoff in 2021. Olympic gold medalist volleyball player Jordan Thompson, NBA Hall of Famer Oscar Robertson and Major League Baseball legend Sandy Koufax are among the several luminaries who have competed as Bearcats. The University of Cincinnati (UC), Department of Athletics seeks applications for an Assistant Coach in the Men's and Women's Track & Field and Cross Country program. The position will be responsible for several administrative and organizational aspects of coaching, recruiting, and competition while following all departmental, university, conference, and NCAA policies and regulations. Reporting to the Director of Men's and Women's T&F/CC, the primary responsibility for this role is to assist the Associate Head Coach for Cross Country/Distance in coaching the men's and women's distance group. This is a full-time position, salaried, with a comprehensive benefits package. The University of Cincinnati track and field program dates to 1892 and is the second-oldest athletics program at the University. Over the years, the Bearcats have won 13 conference team championships, 102 combined individual championships indoors, 162 combined individual titles outdoors, along with five cross country championships. Forty-five student-athletes have combined to win 87 All-America honors, and Annette Echikunwoke earned the program's first National Championship in 2017, winning the indoor weight throw. Echikunwoke also competed at the 2024 Paris Olympics for Team USA, where she won a silver medal in the Hammer throw, becoming the first American woman to win a medal in the event. The Bearcats boasted two other Olympic medalists in 2008 - Mary Wineberg (gold) and David Payne (silver) succeeded on the sport's biggest stage in Beijing, China.
