Job Overview
The Education Specialist II supports the Air Force Voluntary Education Program providing counseling and advisement to Airmen, their families, and Air Force leaders pursuing educational goals. This role examines and performs tasks using experience in applying procedures and policies to include: Military Tuition Assistance (MilTA) Program; Air Force Automated Education Management System (AFAEMS); Military Personnel Data System (MilPDS); Air Force Virtual Education Center (AFVEC); Community College of the Air Force (CCAF); Enlisted and Officer Non-Resident Professional Military Education (PME) Program; On-Base Testing Program; Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) and other financial aid programs. This role is full time, onsite on Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama. Work Model: Onsite
Responsibilities

- Ensures educational appointments are coordinated and scheduled, to include, but not limited to counseling and testing.
- Verifies the receipt, eligibility, processing, and approval/disapproval of requests for MilTA and other affiliated documents to support the MilTA Program.
- Ensures information/transactions are initiated, updated, and recorded in the MilPDS and the AFAEMS.
- Ensures processing of requests for CCAF Web Progress Reports, CCAF and official college transcripts.
- Maintains educational data in the AFAEMS and provides statistical information on programs and operations.
- Assists with the On-Base Testing Program as needed, to include proctoring AU/A4/6 exams, college-level computer-based and hard copy testing, Defense Language Proficiency Tests 5 (DLPTS} and other web-based language testing.
- Provides required security of test material to ensure no loss or compromise of test material.
- Ensures timely and up-to-date information is available concerning educational and career development opportunities using the AFVEC and other media.
- Oversee the development and use of materials such as flyers, pamphlets, and multimedia materials to promote and inform of educational and related programs.
- Assists with preparation/conducting of educational briefings for groups or units to promote educational programs.
- Some receptionist and clerical duties may be performed, to include, but not limited to, preparing and processing incoming and outgoing mail, correspondence, reports, and forms; operating office equipment (fax, photocopy, and scanner); helping customers and answering telephones.
- Ensure files, publications, and documents applicable to the work center are properly maintained.
- Ensure compliance with policies, directives, instructions, and procedures
- Assists with all non-conformances, corrective, and preventative actions.
- Ensures the necessary assistance and support for special functions, special interest events, and projects.
- Provides guidance and direction for lower level technicians.
- Assists in general housekeeping of common areas and work area/center.
- Provides general adult educational and career development counseling to both military and civilian personnel.
- Provides general grade point average computations.
- Monitors progress of individuals counseled and conducts periodic follow-up.
- Performs additional duties as assigned in accordance with contractual, functional, and mission requirements.
Job Requirements
Mandatory:
- Bachelor's Degree that includes, or is supplemented with, study in education or a subject matter field appropriate to the position.
- Bachelor's Degree must be able to meet DoD Office of Personnel management OPM Education Services Series 1740 requirements.
- Personnel Administrative experience.
- Preferred; 4+ years of experience Military Education and Training.
- Knowledge of military education and training personnel systems and procedures.
- Ability to collaborate with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Access, Excel, and Outlook) and other software applications.
- Ability to type 25+ words per minute accurately.
- Detail orientated, capable of multitasking.
- Ability to obtain access to U.S. Government Installations through the Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS).
- Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract.
- U.S. Citizenship.
