Overview:

The applicant is expected to be board certified or board eligible in Pediatric Infectious Diseases and have a strong commitment to clinical excellence in patient care.

  • Clinical responsibilities of the position include seeing inpatient consultations and ambulatory clinic referrals and attending on our unique 26 bed in-patient ID unit.
  • Academic scholarly endeavors are expected, and numerous opportunities exist for leading and participating in clinical/translational research and quality improvement efforts.
  • The division's educational mission also includes teaching medical students, residents and ID fellows.

The successful applicant will join the Section of Infectious Diseases which currently has 20 faculty and established programs in general ID, neonatal ID, Host Defense Program, HIV patient-centered care, hepatitis C clinic, global health/travel clinic, antimicrobial stewardship, and hospital epidemiology and infection control/prevention. We collaborate closely with the Director and Associate Directors of the Clinical Microbiology Laboratory and with 17 PhD faculty with established research programs in the Center for Microbial Pathogenesis and the Center for Vaccine and Immunity. The Research Institute is ranked in the top 10 nationally for NIH funding to free-standing children's hospitals. Research programs are organized into 12 multidisciplinary Centers of Emphasis structured to encourage collaboration, facilitate team science, and foster creativity.

Job Description:

Essential Functions:
  • Conducts patient assessments and diagnoses medical conditions.
  • Develops and implements treatment plans for patients in accordance with established protocols. Monitors patient progress and adjusts treatment plans as necessary.
  • Orders and interprets diagnostic tests to aid in patient diagnosis and treatment.
  • Communicates with patients and their families to provide education and support.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date medical records for each patient and coordinates care with other healthcare professionals.
  • Participates in the training and education of medical students, residents, and fellows as required.
  • Stays up-to-date with medical advancements and research to provide the best possible care.

Education Requirement:
  • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine equivalent, required.
  • Graduate of an approved Fellowship program if applicable, required.

Licensure Requirement:
  • Medical License in the State of Ohio, required.
  • Unrestricted licensed physician, required.

Certifications:

Board Certification or eligibility in Pediatrics, required.
