The Battery Management Systems (BMS) System Lead Engineer will support and provide leadership for the development of BMS software and hardware for the family of next generation xEV powertrains. The selected candidate will lead the technical program management responsibility for the HV Battery System integration and timeline for the BMS System. The BMS Lead will lead a BMS System Technical table with all development stakeholders to ensure the technical, commercial and project deliverables are on time and meeting quality standards. The BMS System Lead will be responsible for BMS System for a common architecture (multiple vehicle applications that have a common BMS architecture: HW/SW/Requirements and supplier). This role will report directly into BMS PRC, but will have dotted line responsibility into HV battery pack vertical teams.


Job responsibilities include but not limited to:



  • Provide technical and project management leadership for cross functional issues, preparing mitigation plans and single point of contact for system capability.
  • Lead BMS Status and reporting for HV Battery FDR and Gate Review per Propulsion Systems Development Plan (PSDP).
  • Participate in HVBP and PRS System Tech Table for escalation and status reporting
  • Collaborate with BMS SW Requirements and SME (Subject Matter Expert) engineers to define overall BMS SW and HW requirements and sourcing strategy
  • Provide technical clarification of designs with suppliers and manufacturing to navigate commercial topics and cost collaboration.
  • Supports development, manufacturing, and service issue recovery and escalation for BMS System

Basic Qualifications:



  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related degree field
  • Minimum 8 years of engineering experience in automotive and related industries
  • 5 or more years of experience with High Voltage Batteries, Electronic systems, ECU Hardware or Software release or control systems
  • 2 or more years of experience in project management
  • Experience in problem solving and leading technical solution
  • Strong technical research and writing skills
  • Project management proficiency and attention to detail
  • Shows ability to lead initiatives and manage multiple objectives in parallel
  • Experience in RFI/sourcing activities and engaging in technical discussions with suppliers


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience in the full product life cycle design and release experience using the FCA releasing system
  • Project leadership experience and/or leading a technical team (2-3 years)
  • Reactive and/or DFSS Black Belt
  • Experience with software development, diagnostics and data analysis tools (e.g., HIL testers, CANalyzer, INCA, etc.
  • Thorough system level knowledge of electrification technology functionality and features
  • High Voltage training and advanced battery design/development experience is desirable
  • Experience with electrical/electronic components used in BMS hardware
