Business Intelligence Systems Senior Analyst

Summary
This position works extensively with the Firm's financial/HR systems to facilitate the information needs of the firm's Accounting department. Specifically, the position allows for the unique opportunity to perform data analysis, define end-user reporting and information needs, and deliver needed information via reports, and other information delivery tools for Sidley's mission critical Financial Systems, allowing the individual to create an extensive functional and technical knowledge base.
Duties and Responsibilities
Perform complex data analysis and query development on Sidley's main financial system (Thomson Reuters 3E, Big Hand data warehouse (Intellistat), Human Resources system (PeopleSoft), Conflicts system and other custom business systems as needed;
- Work with the Business units, including management, to analyze business processes and define requirements of technical solutions, including report, data warehouse and application development.
- Develop reports primarily using report writers for management reporting and financial analysis and creating SQL statements systems to facilitate systems and financial analysis.
- Work with developers, including outside consultants, communicating business requirements of development projects.
- Project Manager for various application implementations (Transactions processing, and Data Warehouse/Business Intelligence apps). This process includes vendor selection and supervision, project planning and status reporting, and coordinating resources from Sidley.
- Work with users for data/report requests from various user groups and determine the proper course of action to set priority of these various tasks on a daily basis.
- Work with end users to define requirements for analytical needs and design technical strategies for achieving them via ad-hoc/standard reporting and data warehouse development and identifying gaps in existing technology and advising management of additional required development that will meet the requirements.
- Analyze issues with transactional level databases and fully analyze the impact and determine strategies for data fixes. Execute the updates to the system as determined.
- Help assess the BI readiness/pulse of the department, analyze the requirements for this BI needs and work on BI vendor selection process and implementation, from vendor selection, data modelling to ensuring data integrity.

Target Salary Range
$120,000 - $140,000 if located in Illinois
Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree
- A minimum of three years of experience in business
- Excellent overall computer skills
- Expertise with Microsoft Excel
- Solid understanding of SQL and relational database concepts along with experience in related database platforms
- Proven experience with report and dashboarding tools
Preferred:
- A minimum of three years of work experience in Accounting or Finance
- Demonstrated experience with Cognos Analytics or Planning, Tableau, Power BI, Business Objects or similar dashboarding tool
