Paid Time Off:

Eligible employees begin accruing PTO as of their date of hire and accrual rates are based on years of service. Base annual accrual starts at 120 hours/15 days for full time status. PTO is a combination of sick and vacation accruals. UMC follows the required WA State Sick Leave guidelines and employees are provided (1) for every 40 hours worked as part of the PTO package. UMC also offers (7) paid holidays, plus (1) Floating Holiday to be used within the calendar year.

Position Description

Starting Salary Range: $80,000 - $94,000 a year; depending on experience

Location: Lynnwood

Classification: Exempt

Position Overview:

Responsible for recording transactions related to assets, liabilities, revenue and expenses for the company and its sister company. Duties include preparing journal entries, reconciliation of financial statements and accounts to ensure data accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Entering financial data and transactions into the ledger
  2. Reviewing financial documents for accuracy and reconciling balance sheet accounts monthly
  3. Analyzing financial data and processes, and providing recommendations for improvements
  4. Ensuring financial records comply with regulatory standards
  5. Generating financial reports
  6. Maintaining schedules of subsidiary ledgers
  7. Collaborating with other departments to complete accurate records and provide accounting support
  8. Assisting with audit preparation
  9. Supporting the Controller and other financial professionals in their duties as needed.
  10. Regular attendance and promptness are considered part of each employee's essential job functions.

Secondary Responsibilities:

  1. Performs primary back-up role for financial projections and cash posting and reconciliations.
  2. Assists in cash forecasting and monthly variance analysis.
  3. Support the setup and integration of new technology tools.
  4. Assisting as needed with local tax filings.
  5. Supporting the Senior Accountant with preparation and maintenance of fixed asset schedules.
Position Requirements

Required Skills and Abilities:

  1. Strong analytical skill and advanced aptitude with numbers.
  2. Effective problem-solving skills to identify and correct financial discrepancies.
  3. Written and verbal communication skills to share accounting information when needed.
  4. Technical accounting skills and experience using accounting software.
  5. Understanding of accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  6. Ability to work on a team, independently, and with other employees.
  7. Strong organizational skills.
  8. Advanced aptitude for working with computers.
  9. Demonstrated professional and ethical attitude and conduct.
  10. Ability to be receptive to new changes to software, procedures and policies.
  11. Demonstrated discretion when dealing with confidential information.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  1. B.A. in Accounting, Finance and/or equivalent experience.
  2. Experience with construction industry preferred.

Required Licensing and Other Certifications:

  1. Maintain a valid Driver's License and satisfactory driving record.
  2. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license preferred, but not required.
