National Grid is hiring a Team Effectiveness Specialist. This hybrid role can be located in either our Brooklyn, NY or Boston, MA office.

Job Purpose

An exciting opportunity to be in a high impact role where you can directly influence and shape the team and leadership culture at National Grid. Joining our Performance and Development COE as part of our wider People Function, you will play an integral role in continuing to shape and support National Grids team effectiveness journey. This role will be key to our US businesses in co-ordinating the design and delivery of high quality, thoughtfully curated facilitated team sessions using our established Team Effectiveness model.

The individual in this role will work in partnership with the Head of Team Effectiveness and will be expected to lead on the delivery of Team Effectiveness for the US businesses and any associated leadership events. The role provides an excellent opportunity to work closely with leaders across our business and the ability to focus on both design and delivery of workshops and to share best practice knowledge with facilitators across the broader NG business.

The role requires partnering closely with leaders at all levels across the business but is also responsible for being a thought leader and supporting insights and analysis on human dynamics to our Senior stakeholders in National Grid. This role requires someone with excellent diagnostic and analytical skills, capable of understanding the bigger picture and the details needed to implement team effectiveness strategies.

The ideal candidate with have a passion for facilitation, team development and organisational transformation. They will have excellent communication, collaboration and influencing skills. They will be naturally curious with good analytical and diagnosis capability to think through complex problems and human dynamics. They will be able to see the bigger picture and join the dots, but critically be able to build relationships quickly and deliver a safe space for honest and open conversations.

This role requires travel across the US for in person sessions - NY (upstate and downstate), NE and occasionally West Coast as necessary.

Key Accountabilities
  • Manage key relationships with multiple stakeholders across the US regions and multiple business areas, ensuring clear communication and alignment around team effectiveness priorities.
  • Collaborate with leaders across the business to design and deliver team effectiveness focused outcomes that align with our values and our strategic priorities.
  • Support key team effectiveness initiatives and projects ensuring they align with the overall leadership strategy.
  • Implement and embed frameworks, tools, and methodologies for team effectiveness at all levels of the organisation.
  • Facilitate workshops, development sessions and coaching to build leadership capability in team effectiveness.
  • Assist in managing the budget for Team Effectiveness and the relevant cross charging back to the business within each performance year.
  • Collaborate with key internal stakeholders to communicate our team effectiveness offering and ensure we are providing the right solutions to support teams.
  • Guide leaders on how to lead their teams and provide support in delivering messages that promote team cohesion and organisational health using insights from our internal employee survey.
  • Identify opportunities to create National Grid case studies to support internal best practice knowledge sharing for the Internal Facilitators Network.
  • Maintain clear records on workshops and resources delivered in any performance year, track progress and improvements on the teams engaging in the framework.
  • Contribute toward the capability growth and performance of our wider group of internal facilitators by role modelling and collaborating effectively.
  • Broad and expert knowledge of facilitation, designing workshops for groups and at least 2 years' experience delivering in person and virtually.
  • A solid track record in successful leadership development and team dynamics improvement.
  • Demonstrated experience of building trusted coaching relationships at senior levels
  • A solid understanding of personality assessments (e.g., SDI, MBTI, 6 Working Genius)
  • Ability to analyse and translate insights into actionable recommendations and present them in an engaging way.
  • Strong project management skills, with experience in driving initiative from idea to execution.
  • You'll be a natural galvaniser who can credibly bring groups together and lead conversations and discussions.
  • You will be a curious thought leader who is not afraid to bring challenge and pace appropriately for the benefit of the team.
  • A strong communicator, who can listen and observe, offer feedback and translate what is missing or hidden in the moment for a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Proven track record influencing others and being able to manage multiple stakeholders.
  • Proactive, tenacious, self-starter. Take the lead and hold others to account to ensure that all activities are completed prior to any events so that the teams get the most out of all sessions / interventions.
  • Strong customer-service focus throughout all work activities, building credibility to be seen to be delivering as a trusted partner to all stakeholders.
  • A strong interest in leadership and team development to be able to lean in and join the dots with emergent knowledge/challenges/opportunities and raise these with the key stakeholders as required.
  • A learning mind-set, with a willingness to 'muck in' on multiple topics on human dynamics and a comfort with working in rapidly changing environments.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving experience; able to break subjects down logically, analyse cause and effect, and generate well-reasoned solutions; and able to deploy a results-focused mindset.
  • Collaborative leader who can work seamlessly with cross functional teams to drive alignment and achieve common goals.
Qualifications
  • Degree level / professional qualification or related experience in human dynamics/team development
  • Prior 5 - 10 years' experience in business environments
  • Certified Personality Assessment Practitioner (SDI, MBTI, Insights (DiSC)
  • Certified Psychometrics Practitioner
  • Practical experience of large global matrixed organisations

Downstate NY $133,000 - $156,000 a year

New England MA $124,000 - $146,000 a year

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
